Billings did the right thing. Anyone saying otherwise, get help. Any real parents, especially dads would've done the same thing. The dude himself stated that his illness would never change, so why should anyone believe their kids would be safe?

The problem is, they still broke the law and we put our faith in the justice system so that we don't get selective abuses of the law. That's exactly how Shane and Vic justified using excessive violence and theft of drugs
