The irony is that she's the CEO of a trans-oceanic shipping company, but she died in her pond while transporting herself. Her sister was also the secretary of...transportation. 😓 She made an eight-minute call when the car went over a limestone wall. She was three times over the legal alcohol blood level after a party. How come she didn't lower the window? A friend paddled out in a canoe, but couldn't get in until firefighters pried open the back door.

The electric window will work for a while, so you use it instead of talking on your phone. It is not the time ! If you can't open the window, just wait until the car fills up with water and then it will open , when the pressure is equal on both sides. Keep your face close to the top of the car, so you can breathe. It is do-able, if you don't freak out and start chocking on the water. It's probably what she did.

This whole situation is to weird, and it would only make sense if she was drunk or high. She crashed in a pond on her own property, and her first instinct wasn’t to open the door or roll the window down? I would only call 911 as a last ditch effort if I couldn’t get out. She’s someone with big political ties and influence so I could easily see how her death would benefit someone. This all seems to weird.

That's your "I want this to be X coz it's way more interesting that way" part of your brain. Don't listen to it. Try to imagine what you would do if you wanted her dead. Driving a car into a POND is not going to work 99% of the time. She died because of stupid mistakes like calling for help and not opening the windows instantly. If someone wanted her dead via hacking her Tesla, a better method would be to steer the car into incoming traffic at high speeds. A much more certain outcome.

Which in modern cars, EV or otherwise, is pretty much impossible. As soon as that car hits the water, every electrical system will likely be shorted. AFAIK door locks *should* unlock on impact in which case your best bet is waiting calmly until the car fills, then push the door open. While the car has air the water pressure will make opening the door impossible. Breaking laminated windows needs a hammer then leverage to kick out the glass.

Cars didn't come with glass hammers then. Question is how many modern models with electronic locks, especially now that most auto-lock, will unlock if they lose power or have proper manual unlocks?? Car designers do stupid things, like at least one model I drove that attached seatbelt spools to the door rather than the frame. (If that door pops open the passenger slides right out) Demonstrated that to a driving instructor in a parking lot.

@@JathraDH- You can roll down the window right away before the pressure hits it in case the power windows don’t work. I know the guy said they’ll work for 30 seconds to 60 seconds, but I don’t know if that’s true. Also if memory serves correctly, you could wait until your car fills up with water and then roll down your window because the pressure is equalized. So wow that would be incredibly scary it’s at least Plan B.

I met a woman whose teen son drove his car into a friend's house. The car was parked head on to the house. The kid was attempting to back the car out of the driveway away from the house, he put it in gear and hit the gas, but he accidentally put the gearshift in D instead of R and the car went fully into the house before he could react. The car plunged thru the floor into the basement and the fire dept had to dig the driver out of the wreck. He was not badly injured. Another case ~20 years ago, at a Dodge dealership named Koller Dodge in Naperville IL an employee accidentally backed a new truck into the customer who just purchased it and pinned him against a wall, killing him. The driver got the accelerator and brake pedals mixed up. Stuff like this happens. Be careful.
