PROs & CONs of owning a historic home

Have you owned a historic home? What were some of your pros and cons?

Grew up in one built in 1863. Pro’s: it was beautiful, large, great details like cherry cabinets and 12’ pocket doors. Cons: unending maintenance. Few modern conveniences like air conditioning are available. It was also in a depressed neighborhood that had not been improved yet when we bought it.
