Hello ASL Heroes!!! Hey, I could really use your help. If you’ve enjoyed having access to an expert in ASL you can help me continue my work for you. A small monthly donation from you would instantly make a big difference here at the studio because teachers don’t earn much and I could use some help paying for server and domain hosting for Lifeprint.com. Right now you can help out a humble (not to mention kind, caring, generous, compassionate, helpful, friendly, fair, and hard-working) ASL teacher -- just go here and a few clicks later you too will be a true “ASL Hero!” www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=64QMBRBXQSV6G Thanks! - Dr. Bill p.s. Want to have your very own USB drive with four semesters worth of ASL instruction (that’s the equivalent of two years of colleges classes) for just $79.95? See "SuperUSB" in the ASLUniversity bookstore at: lifeprint.com/bookstore/bookstore.htm Take care and love to you all. :)

Love this, I’m a beginner! To be a sign language interpreter do you have to learn sign 1 through 6?

Do you "have to" learn 1 thru 6? Depends on your current readiness for learning ASL. Most of these lessons are self-contained and you can benefit from them just by watching. Hello Dr. Bill! I'm not sure if you'll see this but at 13:15, in this context would you have to use the sign washing machine instead of the sign for wash? Would that make more sense or does it not matter? Thank you so much for these videos! Because of you I've learned over 150 words in just two months!
@sign-language
@sign-language 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Allora! The generic sign for "wash" feels awkward when applied to washing clothes. I suppose it could work for "wash a spot out of a piece of clothing via vigorous soapy rubbing. Instead think of the "machine-WASH" sign as meaning "launder." The question is thus asking "Do you like doing the laundry?" Most people, of course, don't, but that isn't the point -- the point is to get practice using certain types of signs via the question / response process. Interestingly, that machine-WASH sign can be paired with "dish" to mean dishwasher: DISH-(fs) + machine-WASH = "dishwasher" In that situation I recommend fingerspelling the word DISH but it is also okay to sign DISH + machine-WASH to mean dishwasher.

Thanks for the heads up. Seems for some reason or other I posted it as "unlisted." I'll see if I can figure out why I did that (heh) and if there is no reason then I will probably change it to public. (Thanks). Makes me seriously wonder though where the 1080p (higher definition) version of this video is on my hard drives. Maybe I can find it and re-post.
