At some point various branches of the family owned Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Italy. Also parts of France. The rest of Europe felt threatened by them (for good reason, of course), and this led to various wars. On this level of detail the Habsburgs didn't have to be included, but it made sense as it's something a lot of people learned a lot about in school.

14:27 Fun Fact: Maximilian Robespierre actually did try and make a religion out of the France revolution. It was kinda crazy when you read more into it, this was late into the revolution and even his compatriots were kinda creeped out by it. This coupled with the executions and civil unrest was what ultimately wrote Robespierre up into Dr. Guillotine's appointment list

He wasn’t actually the first in the revolution to try and make a new religion. After the French Republic was declared in 1792, the National Convention tried to cut all ties with the Church, so they introduced the Cult of Reason as a replacement for Christianity. There were of course some people who didn’t like that, and so in 1794, Robespierre proposed the Cult of the Supreme Being as kind of a compromise between Catholicism and the Cult of Reason. People still went to the Festival of the Supreme Being in June but Robespierre’s speech went on so long that everybody got bored 😅 as well, he wasn’t trying to be a dictator or anything, he was very sick in June and July of 1794 and was likely delirious at the time he gave his final speech.

The Convention as a whole elected to start a new calendar, year 1 day 1 equivalent to September 22, 1792 (the day the French Republic was declared). Except all the months had different names, as you said, and days. All months had 30 days, with six extra days being allocated to festivities, organised into three 10-day weeks. But the 7-day week was later reinstated, then Napoleon abolished the new calendar entirely in 1805 I want to say.
