as someone whose first language is definitely not english, i watched this video approximately 7 years ago for the first time and barely understood anything due to the overall adhd kinda vibe. rewatching the video now got me thinking about how dramatically my english has improved over the years as i am not only able to get what bill was saying but even catch each word individually. wow. kinda proud of myself.

I love how besides how much quickness, memes and goofiness over the explanation in this video, the nuclear explosion ( 8:25) felt so much sorrow and had more psychological weight than the rest of the video. Absolutely 10/10

@@CounterCurseMantraJust because someone is speaking japanese, you would ask them their opinion on the atrocities committed by imperial Japan? Have some self-awareness. You're speaking ENGLISH. Do you have any idea how much suffering, exploitation, oppression and outright genocide English speakers have caused? America, Britain, Australia, Canada, all of these countries have their own long, long list of crimes against humanity. The British and American empires especially, their sheer power means they are likely the biggest non-natural causes of suffering in human history. *All* governments minimize and erase the uncomfortable parts of their own history that's taught in schools. You should never think your government is any different.

Prehistoric Japan (10,000 BCE - 300 BCE) The earliest inhabitants of Japan were hunter-gatherers who arrived around 10,000 BCE. Around 300 BCE, the Yayoi people migrated to Japan from the Asian mainland, bringing with them new technologies such as rice cultivation, metalworking, and pottery. The Kofun Period (300-710 CE) The Kofun period saw the emergence of a powerful ruling class, which built elaborate burial mounds called kofun. During this period, the Yamato clan emerged as the dominant political force in Japan and established a centralized government. The Asuka Period (710-794 CE) The Asuka period saw the introduction of Buddhism to Japan and the adoption of Chinese-style government. The Taika Reforms of 645 CE established a new legal code and administrative system, laying the foundations for a centralized government. The Nara Period (794-1185 CE) The Nara period saw the establishment of a permanent capital in Nara and the construction of the first permanent Buddhist temples in Japan. The period was marked by a flourishing of culture and art, including the creation of the world's first novel, The Tale of Genji. The Heian Period (794-1185 CE) The Heian period saw the capital move from Nara to Kyoto and the emergence of a new aristocratic culture. The period is known for its literary and artistic achievements, including the development of the Japanese writing system, known as kana. The Kamakura Period (1185-1333 CE) The Kamakura period saw the emergence of the samurai warrior class and the establishment of a military government, known as the Kamakura shogunate. The period was marked by a series of civil wars and the rise of regional warlords known as daimyo. The Muromachi Period (1333-1573 CE) The Muromachi period saw the rise of the Ashikaga shogunate and the emergence of a new cultural movement known as Zen Buddhism. The period was marked by a series of civil wars and the rise of powerful daimyo. The Azuchi-Momoyama Period (1573-1603 CE) The Azuchi-Momoyama period saw the unification of Japan under the leadership of the warlord Oda Nobunaga and his successor, Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The period was marked by a flourishing of culture and art, including the construction of impressive castles and the emergence of the tea ceremony. The Edo Period (1603-1868 CE) The Edo period saw the establishment of the Tokugawa shogunate and the consolidation of a centralized government. The period was marked by a long period of peace and stability, as well as a flourishing of culture and art, including kabuki theater, ukiyo-e prints, and haiku poetry. The Meiji Period (1868-1912 CE) The Meiji period saw Japan emerge as a modern industrialized nation. The period was marked by a series of reforms, including the adoption of a new constitution, the abolition of the samurai class, and the establishment of a new educational system. The Taisho Period (1912-1926 CE) The Taisho period saw a continuation of Japan's modernization efforts, as well as a flowering of cultural and artistic expression. The period was marked by the emergence of new art movements, such as the avant-garde movement and the proletarian literature movement. This was a great video on the history of Japan! Well done!
