As a veteran who has spent his entire life around veterans, I must say that these two kicked it right out the park! When I first saw this on CBC TV, Mr. Peterson played his character JUST the way an officer would tell his story to his contemporaries in the Mess. As they have aged so has their portrayal of their character's attitudes toward their experiences - again, with utter authenticity.

Brilliant! This is one play that seems to get better with age. A Canadian Classic about a Canadian hero - produced by great Canadians. Eric and John should get their own Heritage Minute.

Interesting play I remember seeing a recording on BBC TV in the eighties. I was enthusiastic enough to obtain a script years later. The whole phenomenon of the WW1 air ace is a fascinating one there's no doubt that these men were brave and skilful. In addition they were built up as heroes in contrast to the anonymous slaughter of the trenches. TE Lawrence was lionised by the contemporary media in much the same way and for similar reasons

jferkfjkj - they first did this play a long time ago when they were young. I imagine it was much better then. This older version has too much Oscar Leroy in it.
