The vid's ancient, but I so enjoyed watching it. A man who came from nothing to be something and provided much needed pleasure along the way. A treasure.

Thanks for the upload. Billy must be turning in his grave at what has become of his family wonderland. A truly great man.

No he would be proud. After all Butlins was only conceived to give the working class a cheap affordable package holiday. They only modernised his concept in the 80s because they were in danger of being outdated by international Travel and the arrival of Haven in 1987. By the way they kept the fairgrounds

Cliff appears terrified of Bunter and with good reason. I wonder if he had any dealings with the Krays

Wow, Billy seems like he doesn’t want to be on “This is your life.”

He definitely didn't!! That was his wedding day. He'd just married the mother of his children. He'd actually been living elsewhere for years with a much younger woman, but he wanted a Knighthood, and so married the mother of his children to become 'respectable'. She had known about his affair, and she became an alcoholic. She died young. There are several documentaries on KZbin about Billy Butlin.

I look at those camps and compare them to the resorts of the Carolinas, Hot Springs Arkansas or the Adirondacks and they look like concentration camps to me.
