I know people who have seen Billy live and then insist that they would never go back to see him again, because it was physically painful from the amount of laughing they did. He's also never done the same show twice, he doesn't work from a script and just extemporises every time he's on stage.

I think I first saw him in Muppet Treasure Island when I was 11 or 12. Much later I found out he was a sort of stand-up god since the mid-70’s. He is now my absolute hero of comedy. There’s so much gold on KZbin. I highly recommend ”Old lady on the bus” and ”Worst pain known to man”. I like you two. Keep it up!

Billy or "The Big yin" as us Scottish call him has been around since the seventies and is famous worldwide. The guy is hilarious and my Dad said he went to school with him which me and my brother didn't believe. My Da like many older Scottish guys did a fair bit of bullshitting when telling stories. And one day me & my Da were in The Smiddy bar in an area of Glasgow called Partick when who walks in but Billy Connolly himself. He ordered a drink, recognised my Da and greeted him. I got introduced with my mouth wide open and the look on my Da's face when Billy sat at a table to read his newspaper was priceless. A kinda "fawking told you so" look on his face, grinning like a Cheshire cat.😂

Very funny guy, who was huge in his day, and not a bad actor too. My favourite being his surprisingly touching role of being a servant to Queen Victoria whilst she was in mourning, who was played by Judy Dench, in the film Mr Brown.

Billy Connolly made his name as a superb comedian in the 70's and 80's but he may be more well known by some for his acting career in some major blockbusters. He also had a number of chart songs and more recently in his 80's took up being an artist. An amazingly talented guy.

Billy Connolly and Robin Williams are two of the greatest comedians who also have had great careers in movies. Both brought originality to the stage and screen. Billy's stories on wildebeest, holidays with his family and stories on his life before stand up are hilarious.

As so many others have already said, Billy Connolly is a masterful story teller & in truth transformed British comedy in the 1970s with his ‘observational’ humour. You will now find so many British comedians have followed in his footsteps with this style as opposed to the one line, wisecracking American style of humour. Not only is Billy a master of comedy, he’s a fantastic actor & has played supporting roles in great films such as ‘Mrs Brown’. Billy is an absolute legend and a national treasure . He used to work in the Glasgow ship yards as a welder back in the day before going on to playing folk music , great banjo player . In between songs his interaction with the audience was so popular at making the audience laugh that he transitioned into stand up . Even though he was well known in Scotland he got his big national break on the legendary UK chat show Parkinson in 1975 ( worth checking out ). His career took off . His influence on comedians in the last 50 years , not just in the UK Robin Williams was a huge fan , has been massive . He has been in many movies but stand up is his true love . Unfortunately in recent years Billy has been diagnosed with parkinsons disease which has led to his retirement from live performances . He has done many TV series usually travelling around different countries including the US , one being Route 66 . A very deep rabbit hole to go down and well worth every second . Billy is now 81 years old and lives in Key West Florida .
