I love this song but mostly this edition. It's been 10years seeing both my daughters through primary school and we even recorded this song with school friends at our home. Today I got to sing it during the graduation ceremony as part of a speech I was giving for my students of the last three years. Inspired by the simplicity yet sophistication of this version.

I love to think of this song as sung to my daughter. From the day she came into this world, I've felt the words more and more are about this new world she makes every day.

One of my favourites from primary school.. Brings back so many memories, remember every word. But its only 20 years later when you realise how profound and beautiful this song is.. Fantastic version.. No matter where you are in life, this still applies- we are constantly moving forward onto new things.. We all experience low times in life, but as long as you are still here, your journey is not over. Remember the past with fondness, but do not despair over it- Each day is a gift that we should enjoy with hope in our hears. Love to all ❤❤

And this song is written by a Londoner - a poet called Sydney Carter (1915-2005) who also wrote 'Lord of the Dance' and 'When I needed a neighbour' - all songs I sung in my Essex primary school in the 70's - and I remember how I loved singing them too!

I love this song so much. He sings this so perfectly and brought me much happiness having this played at my wedding almost a year a go. My hubby and I hope he comes to the UK when I will make it my mission to meet this man! Topped amazing grace by Jonny cash...which is utterly amazing! Please tell me if you ever come to london.

Sydney Carter, maestro of the English folk song in the 1960s, wrote this, I understand, for a 10 year old who was anxious about moving up to secondary school. Melody and lyrics top drawer.

Love this fella's style. Some kind of alt-music hall or something! Very rooted in tradition somehow but bringing a fresh vibe too.
