FILM DESCRIPTION:
The life of 11-year-old Billy Elliot, a coal miner's son in Northern England, is forever changed one day when he stumbles upon a ballet class during his weekly boxing lesson. Before long, he finds himself in dance, demonstrating the kind of raw talent seldom seen by the class' exacting instructor, Mrs. Wilkinson. With a tart tongue and a never-ending stream of cigarettes in her hand, Mrs. Wilkinson's zest for teaching is revived when she sees Billy's potential.

1:55 so sad that Tommy was only able to say goodbye to his own brother when he is not able to listen at him. Tommy was a good character, a boy forced to be an adult when he was still a child, and because of that, It was dificult to him to show emotions. But you can see in his eyes, true Love for his Lil brother

I love it when Billie's father holds his son in his arms...I also love this complicity between the two brothers...but the bus is leaving...it's too late to say the last words...as usual

One of the themes of this film is how men are supposed to experience only one type of masculinity. The beauty of this scene is that here we see how these stereotypes affect all these characters. Billy kisses his friend Michael, expressing his affection and telling him that he appreciates him despite his homosexuality. And the biggest thing, that hug from Billy's dad. Throughout the film we have seen how he wants to impose a misunderstood masculinity on Billy, while he is a man with a vulnerable side that he does not always show. In that final embrace is all that love for his child that he doesn't always express in words or gestures. And Tony, always as a product of stereotypes, also has trouble saying goodbye to his brother properly, but he still shows his affection. The four actors do a magnificent job expressing this mutual affection without words.

1:11 always makes me cry. It reminded me of my mom, holding her granddaughter, my daughter just like that at the airport, knowing that was the last time she would hold her. My mom had terminal cancer and we knew it was just a matter of time. Three months later she was gone. 💔💔

One of the best scene transitions in films happens after this when Billy travelling on the coach becomes his dad travelling on the underground train to see him in Swan Lake. Its already emotional from the previous scene, there is a moment of gentle humour when his dad realises he's almost sat next to the grown Michael in the theatre, and then it's Billy leaping onto the stage. The emotional intensity is said with no words, and you feel his dad's heart bursting.
