I ran into Jimmy in a restaurant. He stopped by our table to shoot the breeze. Super nice humble guy. He was there with his family going to a west coast car show. It looked like his wife and daughters told him he wasn't going without them. heh.

Billy G. was in the balcony with Terry Bradshaw and some sharp dressed women! Billy came down for a couple song encore. It was an awesome night!

Eye worked at several of the Thundercloud Subs locations Austin mid-eighties and made Chris Layton a sandwich, though eye didn't recognize him until after he left. As eye handed his order, he had a look about him as if wondering he'd been made. Perhaps my opportunity to gush over a local star was missed, lol. Saw Stevie w/ Double Trouble at Auditorium Shores just after Lou Ann Barton had left the line-up...aah historical moments.

@lucabrasi5070Күн бұрын
@@mattrogers1946Stevie was a good brother that was always trying to promote and help his brother out in any way he could. But I’ll never bash Jimmy’s playing. He’s not trying to dazzle anyone with shredding or speed. But neither does Keith Richards or David Gilmour. Or Mr Gibbons, for that matter.
@David-xy9my3 сағат бұрын
He's older now and has either deliberately chosen to play in this slower style, or has some arm, hand, finger issues that are affecting his playing. There is no doubt that his playing now is slower and less fluid than his playing 40 years ago. But, if you go back and listen to the early T-Birds albums, Jimmie was tremendous. Fast when he needed to be, and fluid always. The T-Birds (and Stevie) almost singlehandedly revived classic blues, and Jimmie's influence is profound and far reaching. You would be hard pressed to find a straight ahead blues player in the last 50 years who would say that Jimmie was not a fantastic player. I suppose his appeal is "limited" because of the genre he works in. I'm sure he doesn't matter much to shredders, metal heads, and who knows what other up to the minute styles I can't even name. But if you like pure American blues and R&B, he's the real deal. If you know you know.....
