Rest in peace, Billy Grammer. He died today (August 10, 2011) in Benton, IL. A sad loss for southern Illinois and for Country Music.

Billy Grammer and his music has been a very big influence in my style of music. He's one of my favorites. I own 2 of his LP records so far. Sad he's not still with us, but at least he left us all these films to remember him by and learn from.

My dad's brother Donny, married his niece Pam. It's an honor to be related, even if a little distant.

Mr. Grammer set up my old Guild one night in Nashville. He was a joy and for him to work on the guitar of a young man was something special. His son and I had played together that summer with Campus Crusade for Christ. He was real and special.

Mr.Billy Grammer was as nice a person as you'd ever want to meet. I worked at an industrial supply company in Nashville and around in 80's ge would come in to see me and buy small taps. He was making fishing spoons and needed the taps to tap holes for the weed guards. We would talk and he was a delightful man. His health and eyesight was getting worse but he was still able to make his spoons. I miss him...

My great grandfather has 8 grammar guitars best sounding guitar I have every played or heard. He gave all of his kids one and gave me his great grandson one. My great grandfather has always loved music and by far country the most I'm very lucky to have gotten the chance to play with him. And to own one myself and to be able to keep on playing guitar with him not only is it the best sounding guitar but. Every time I play it I feel connected to him he said he meant billy one time in VA and he was amazed by the fact my grandpa had 8 grammars. Luckily the guitars have nothing wrong with them every thing is 100% original just play ware. Here's to billy grammar for giving me all of those great memories with my great grandpa. He has been running a guitar shop for 60 years in Martinsburg WV best man I will ever know hes 86 and still pickin.

Great to see this man. I love my G30. Bought it new in 1969, and it's still my main acoustic

I recall seeing Mr Grammer on early morning TV....maybe "The Jimmy Dean Show," back in the late 50's. Seems the show came from Wash DC. Not sure. Anyway, Mr Grammer had a new guitar that morning, and he played the lovely instrument. I am now 68 and have never forgotten that moment. Larry

He says he made them from 1955-58. I think he meant 1965-1968. Seems like a nice man.

Yes, Billy misspoke. They came out in 1965. I bought mine in 1968 which I still have although my son uses it now. It’s got the beautiful inlay stripes running down the fingerboard like Billy talked about. The Grammer Guitars were the best acoustics for country music ever made, top quality wood, hardware, and craftsmanship. It’s very hard to find one these days (2024) as relatively few were made and their owners rarely let them go.

Mr Kilgore, Thank you for posting this video as Mr Grammer is a delight! I have recently become a Grammer owner and have made numerous attempts in contacting other enthusiasts with no success. Included have been the Grammer site, George Gollin, Butch Moore, Bob Kajala on and on. Greg in Atlanta has been my only reward. Are these various sites no longer maintaining a presence? I look forward to your response! Best Regards, Jeff
