Really great to see you took the footwork to another level here. Was so focused on your feet that you could have got away with twiddling your sticks or eating your dinner without me noticing! 👏👏👏

Brilliant Myke! The hand clap pedal (and multipad) is so cool, and well done. And the fancy hi hat work all throughout this is outstanding too. Fantastic!! 🔥🔥🤘🤘

Thanks very much! With some of these "drum-machine-oriented" songs, I want to see if all of it can be played by one human. There'll be lots more of this sort of thing in the near future.

This was an amazing performance! Your playing was super tight throughout the whole song, and I loved how those claps sounded from the pedal! Your hi-hat work was incredible, too!

Great work. Your hat work just comes off as so effortless. The hats in this are such a huge part of the song itself and I'd be sitting there with it being totally obvious my right hand was on fire LOL! Can't compliment you enough on things of that nature Myke

This breakdown section where you are throwing that left on to the SPD-SX is sick dude

The hi-hat thing is all in the bounce. Let the stick do the work. Also tendonitis. You're not seeing the tendonitis.😅

Great use of the Roland Sample Pad, Myke. I have the Yamaha version, and don’t know how I could manage without it now! Also, another of my fave songs/artists from the 80s! Great rendition, and very faithful to the original. Finally, congratulations on reaching 300 subs 👏👏👍👍.

I'm starting to use the SPD-SX more and more. It's taken me a while to get used to it, but now I keep finding more ways to use it. It's fun! This is one of my all-time favourite songs, let alone from the 80s. It was fun to play. Glad you dug it, man!

The Yamaha took some learning (still learning!) but like you, the more I use it, the more uses I find for it. My current fave is “stacking”…you can add up to 4 samples to one pad, consecutively or sequentially. The former means you can create new sounds (or of course just load ANY sound via USB)! I have a Rush song coming out later this year with one of Neil’s trademark “explosion/blast” sounds, which was real fun trying to recreate. I’m sure the Roland does the same. Endless discoveries! One of these days I’ll follow your lead and get myself a trigger pedal! Yeah I really like that song but my real fave of Idol’s was White Wedding. The guitar riff was electrifying!

I have to agree with everyone else that your footwork here was really freakin good!! Most people would of just programmed the clap part or at least I think that is how they do that? Awesome cover Myke and it sounds great too!!👍😀
@MykeLewisMusic2 жыл бұрын
I think most of the time stuff like the handclaps are on a sequencer (nowadays something like Ableton). I'm not opposed to that on any sort of moral level whatsoever, it's all about what's best for the gig. That being said, I always want to try and carry as much of the weight that I can musically speaking (not actual weight, I'm lazy, and that would be horrible).
@ZaxDrumsGolfandMore2 жыл бұрын
@@MykeLewisMusic I understand about doing what's best. Especially since you have that multipad I am sure at a gig that would be used to run that clap. But you definitely carried your weight on this one!! 👍

Man... i think i would mess all up with my right leg... you change of pedals with a great flowing movement.... years and years of practice, i suppose... Great song choice!!! nice, really nice cover!!!
@MykeLewisMusic2 жыл бұрын
I didn't decide to do the clap with the right foot till last week! It was really tricky. The first time I tried to play the song this way, I was flailing my leg all over and kept pushing the trigger pedal across the room. You can see in the video here that at one point I'm double-checking that I wasn't pushing the kick pedal around, lol.
