The one hit by him you haven’t heard is: Dancing with Myself. This song was from the punk band he started with named Generation X. Aka Gen X. That’s one you can check out next time you do Billy Idol. Also Sesame Street did a cover of Rebel Yell, only it was “Rebel L”. 😊. Kinda of like when they did “Letter B”. lol

Idol was also in the biopic about Jim Morrison (played by Val Kilmer) directed and co-wrote by Oliver Stone. He was originally cast for a larger role in the film but he had an accident of some sort and broke his leg so he ended up having to accept a smaller role.

In the ‘80’s I was working in a remote logging camp on the coast of British Columbia. We only got a couple of TV stations via satellite. One of them was MTV and this song was in heavy rotation. Everyone knew this tune and we worked the phrase “More, More, More!” Into every conversation we could.

Billy is a prolific songwriter, has a deep catalogue with other bangers like this but also some different, moodier songs that still hit hard. His roots are in the UK 70s punk scene w/the Sex Pistols (he's still friends with the remaining SP guys and has done tours with them), he had a band Generation X that had some great songs, then went solo. This perfectly aligned with the start of MTV and he became a huge, huge star. He's still touring and selling out big venues, and the fans say he never disappoints, he's still kicking ass in his 60s & with his same musical partner, guitarist Steve Stevens.

on american horror story billy lourde did this awesome sequence with the midnight aerobics; she turns this song on and it's all guys and they are doing the 80's aerobics and then the satan guy comes in; great scene. and further in the epi they play flesh for fantasy and a couple epis after blue highway! great song by billy; (no music video though alas) billy's character in story is supposed to appear at the camp etc. he never does. if you get the chance check out the epis; they are on youtube etc. also if you get the chance on here try listening to : eyes without a face, white wedding (huge hit of his), dancing with myself, flesh for fantasy, cradle of love and to be a lover.

yes billy idol is in the wedding singer (sadly not a fan of the film sorry) i only know it because of billy doing that famous scene and he is dressed in his punk clothing etc. This song and music video is in the old movie big. they play it when tom hanks' character gets the apartment. yes the music video was live in NJ. they picked up a bunch of young kids and some had drinks before hand etc. Steve and Billy still rock and sound amazing today! i have seen them in 2022 and 2023 and it was amazing! the sound in steve stevens guitar solo is a toy laser/ray gun, and he uses it with the guitar and it sounds like a laser etc. last time i saw billy; he kneels at steve and gives him the gun. when i saw him 1st time 2 years ago; when they sang this i had a bunch of the ladies with me all screaming etc. it was sold out! early in the concert one lady was throwing triple d bras on stage to him, it was really funny, one was a leopard bra.
