Back in the 70's when ever I bought a Jennings or Nelson album I always noticed that the best songs were written by Billy Joe Shaver.

Whenever I hear someone in the country field called an "outlaw", this man is who I compare the candidate to. Nearly all come up short and are found wanting. Billy Joe is indeed "the real deal".

Billy Joe's songs are timeless, and so full of heart. No question, a gifted and legendary songwriter and musician in his own right. One of his most unheralded gifts to music was his son Eddy. The man was an absolute Strat Master! The guitar solo on this tune is an absolute perfect study of technique, timing and voicing. Everytime I watch it I pick up another nuance in the playing of this kid. Hell did indeed freeze over on Dec 31, 2000. And then again on Oct 28, 2020. I believe Tom T said it before: "It could be the Good Lord, likes a little pickin, too!

I'll give that comment a big HELL YEAH! Billy Joe is a damn national treasure, he was one of a kind. Hank Williams was the original hillbilly poet but by God BJS was cut from the same cloth. His storytelling is second to none. Most underrated musician to come out of that era!
