Hi, Walter. I am very sorry for this loss in your life... Nothing could fill such a hole, but I really hope that by now, those moments you had together make you smile, rather then cry. Life was not designed to be infinite and the only think that really matters is if the person who lived it did so to the fullest extent. And given the story you told, I'm certain your son lived it rocking.

Beyond sad hearing we lost Billy Joe. What a great songwriter. He could say with ten words what everybody else would use 25 words to say. He could craft a song so well. Texas has produced a ton of talented singer / songwriters but Billy Joe Shaver most definitely the top of the heap. Trust me that is saying a lot about him because those others are not the least bit slouches by any measure. The world just lost a treasure for sure.

Everything you say is true, Jerry. I came in from listening to Waylon's album, "Honky Tonk Heroes", his homage to Billy Joe, to read of his death this morning here in rural Australia. God bless Billy Joe's memory, Texas, and all its people.

@@trevorbailey1486 You should visit Texas, friend. I think you would find it surprising similar to Australia. Its hot, the people are friendly, farmers pray for rain, and half of everything is dangerous.

@@johnnymcblaze I was there in '91. Everything you say is true. I used to do a little rodeo here in Oz back in '79, with Willie, Waylon, Jerry Jeff & Billy Joe cassettes blaring away as I went Down the Road. Funny enough, Adelaide, the capital of my old home State, South Australia, was made a 'sister city' of Austin TX back in '86. We're almost kin!
