This works so much better with him and the piano rather than the band version on the album.

I wish we could get just him without the interviews. This and the solo Summer Highland Falls from the same special.

Although the album version does have this almost Celtic sound that comes from the drums I think, and that makes sense because percussion is probably the most ancient music humans have created. That huge sweep of human history is behind "2000 years", right? But really I love both versions!

Agreed. I bought this vhs and put it on Dvd years and years ago. I m so good I did. In fact over 150 vhs tapes. It took an entire week with only sleep as break! Sorry that's irrelevant. I'm a wafffler.

Great composition! The chord progression, the time signature, lyrics and the vocals are impressive.

When..oh when...OH WHEN...is somebody going to release the un-interrupted footage of the acoustic rendition shown above?! The tape exists somewhere and the spliced in commentary was edited in. PLEASE, whoever is holding this original footage...or Mr. Joel himself..or anybody....upload the acoustic performance from this documentary (even if it's just the audio!) of 2000 years! It's so heartfelt and awesome. Billy Joel at his best. Thanks in advance.

It's been two years and no luck yet! I will reiterate...anybody with access to this material; or the studio in possession of the master tracks; or Mr. Joel's management team; or Mr. Joel himself....PLEASE post, release or otherwise make available the full-length uninterrupted original audio or video recordings of this acoustic version of 2000 Years. We're begging!

questa versione è stupenda, ha una voce incredibile... peccato che ci sono le interviste nel mezzo. ma un modo per avere il video integrale senza interviste c'è??

That piano sounds perfect and Billy's voice is just as good

Totally perfect piano tone. His digital pianos sound godawful compared to this.

I agree. Since he needs to transpose most of his songs he should do it like a real musician (which he is) and learn them in their respective keys. Honestly it probably wouldn't even be too hard for him and it would sound soooo much better. Jesus his whole band just isn't the same the last two decades. Anyway rant over, they need to release this post haste- it's a crime they only this with interviews plastered
@Tunz9093 жыл бұрын
@@sithlordmikeyp Don't think Billy has ever performed the tune live in the key (F) he recorded it in...unless this counts for this program. He plays it in the key of D at his live concerts.

I have to say, this song has always grabbed my heart. Genius. I hope the message lives long forever. Way past me. The world needs to hear it. There is not one unimportant word in the entire song. For any religion. For any ethnicity. For any so called world leader in our future.

Is there a way to get just the solo performance without all the interviews? Thanks!
