This was filmed in December 1982. Back in April of 1982, Billy was in a bad motorcycle accident that broke his left wrist and thumb badly (he lost some bone on his thumb).. So this is the result of that months later.. He would bandage his thumb for the next several tours and you can see him on and off during this show shaking his hand as it was still bothering him.

Billy Joel is a DEEP rabbit hole! The man has THREE Greatest Hits albums! Since you haven't listened to "Piano Man" yet, that really should be your next listen. And while there are literally dozens of hit songs from this man, I'll recommend one that wasn't a hit, may not have even been released as a single. It's the final track on his 1989 record "Storm Front", and it's called "And So It Goes". Billy's called it one of his five favorite songs. It's a quiet piece about the risks of falling in love.

The crowd will always go wild for Billy, but remember, he's a Long Island man through and through, so those are his peeps. As a fellow Long Islander myself, I can verify that you are raised on Billy from the womb. I believe he had a broken thumb for this show. He's crazy talented. You could close your eyes and blindly point at a list of a hundred songs and find a gem.

Billy was in a bad motorcycle accident not long before this concert. His hand would go numb at times and he still had some of his fingers bandaged for a while afterwards. That is why you see him shaking his hand out at times during this show.

Billy Joel is a storyteller musician! He has a vast catalog with various styles of music! "Piano Man" is a must. Looking for a romantic tune it's "Just The Way You Are". More of a rocker react to "It's Only Rock N Roll To Me". Love your reactions Inna. I hope you enjoyed Scandinavia !😁

Brava! Billy Joel è uno dei miei artisti preferiti ed è uno dei più grandi "storyteller". Ti suggerisco di ascoltare "Goodnight Saigon", "Storm front", "Leningrad" e "Lullabye (Goodnight my Angel)".

As a long islander, I probably can't explain to you how popular Billy Joel is here. If you just look up his record setting Madison square garden shows. It will give you an idea. To this day, any Friday or Saturday night in almost any bar you will hear piano Man at least once

Yay! Great song! Sorry, I know this is new to you, and somehow you skipped "Piano Man", which is most people's introduction to Billy Joel, but yeah he went crazy on the piano! He's Billy Joel! The piano man! That's his thing! He has so many great songs over such a long period of time, sometimes some a little more different than others. His Greatest Hits has three volumes. It was originally a double album, and later there were so many new songs they had to add a whole other album, and every one of the songs on their is killer! Besides "Piano Man", which is kind of a Billy Joel must, there's just so many to know what to suggest. Some of my favorites would probably be "Goodnight Saigon", "The Downeaster Alexa", and if you want one of his famous romantic ones, probably "She's Got A Way", but honestly, that's just a drop in the bucket.
