This video should have at least 100 million views. What is going on? BJ is the GOAT! No one comes close to his music catalog and longevity. Just about everyone of his songs is enjoyable to listen to multiple times. They just don't get old and stay fresh after almost 50 years in some cases! This man is simply undervalued, under recognized and under viewed. The millennials and gen z generations have not opened up or even discovered BJ perhaps because he didn't sell out to ads and marketing taking advantage of his celebrity status to sell some schlocky items. Please get this video and others out to people, especially those younger ones who unfortunately have such lousy music to listen to these days. Come on now, just go and see the top songs on KZbin music or Spotify, most of it is plain garbage that can't even be called music and we know most was not written by the so called artist.

I never understood what the big deal with Billy Joel was.....Bald ,old man wasn't too attractive to me even though I'm a man. I knew only Uptown Girl and I preferred West life's version. It was about 2-3 years ago that while watching the show 'The Boys' , I came to learn more about him and even still I wasn't that drawn into him other than the song "You're only Human" . Then, I started listening to him more and he's now my favourite pianist-singer. I think lots of his songs are a bit too American that I can't relate to but I like the theme of them...take Allentown for example.

When todays young generation questions what real musicians are just show them this 😎
this song gives me chills every time. when i was about 9 or 10 years old, i had just discovered billy joel. I saw a CD in the mall with the stranger on it, and asked my grandpa to buy it for me. the following day, we went on our annual vacation to wildwood, NJ (we still do this to this day) and i played the CD the entire ride. I knew the biggest hits like movin out and just the way you are. my grandpa introduced me to “Scenes from an italian restaurant” as well as this masterpiece. I am 15 now and i still absolutely love this song and will forever associate it with the amazing times i had on vacation with my grandpa.

Many years ago, having grown up with most of the produce of Billy's middle career years (Nylon Curtain, Innocent Man) playing in the background, I came to discover his early stuff thanks to the first Greatest Hits album. In the face of a personal heartbreak, "The Stranger" somehow spoke to me. I think I would have been without hope if not for this song. The Stranger by Billy Joel literally saved my life.

Well we all have a face That we hide away forever And we take them out And show ourselves When everyone has gone Some are satin some are steel Some are silk and some are leather They're the faces of the stranger But we love to try them on Well we all fall in love But we disregard the danger Though we share so many secrets There are some we never tell Why were you so surprised That you never saw the stranger? Did you ever let your lover see The stranger in yourself? Don't be afraid to try again Everyone goes south Every now and then Ooh, Ooh You've done it, why can't someone else? You should know by now You've been there yourself Once I used to believe I was such a great romancer Then I came home to a woman That I could not recognize When I pressed her for a reason She refused to even answer It was then I felt the stranger Kick me right between the eyes Well we all fall in love But we disregard the danger Though we share so many secrets There are some we never tell Why were you so surprised That you never saw the stranger? Did you ever let your lover see The stranger in yourself? Don't be afraid to try again Everyone goes south Every now and then Ooh, ooh You've done it, why can't someone else? You should know by now You've been there yourself You may never understand How the stranger is inspired But he isn't always evil And he is not always wrong Though you drown in good intentions You will never quench the fire You'll give in to your desire When the stranger comes along Ooh, Ooh Ooh, Ooh (copied and pasted from another YT vid of this song)
