My Dad gave all. Three tours in Vietnam and was awarded 5 Purple Hearts. He lost his leg during the war and Agent Orange took his life 27 Years ago today (5/3/97). I was 17 years old when the cancer that was caused by it spread all through him and took him. To me this is my dads song. Thank You Billy Ray for letting our fallen vets live on in your words. Rest in Peace SGT. Craig D. Treaster. Love You and will always Miss You.

I was a Canadian soldier, served in Bosnia 1994-95. My best friend in the world was killed on March 15/95. I was there when Jack gave all. I visit his grave on the anniversary. I leave a quarter on his headstone every year. This song breaks me every time I hear it, it's haunting.

@@TheJBELL02 My father is a WW2 veteran as well. He is in Heaven with your dad and countless others. This might ease your pain little, there are not many men left from that war. When your out and about and you see an individual coming your way and you see that hat that says veteran, Vietnam nam etc reach your hand out and thank them for keeping us free. I have never had a negative response, there face lights up. And if the time comes and l don't get a positive response, l will apologize, but l will not let it stop me from reaching out my hand. We never really ever know it might just be what someone needs to pull them through a difficult memory, time etc. If our intentions are meant to be good and sincere how could we lose.

@@jimmymiller7568 Another year and for once we are not at war with anyone on the world stage. Now, the war is in our own country. Being destroyed from the inside Tearing our people apart. Things that used to unify us now cause divide. An insurrection of the worst kind leaves our people restless. In all our history as a country I have never seen or heard of such strong distaste and dislike for our president and Congress. Will there be a war? Another Civil War? Have we failed as soldiers to protect our country from enemies foreign and DOMESTIC?

@@pmritzen2597 you’re correct. By the insurrection is very questionable. Most who were there, because of the disgust both parties have done. They’re the ones dividing this country. Installing a demented pedophile as a puppet with a joker, is a distraction so that they can keep pushing their agenda. Congress is a disgrace. They’re the ones holding power, not a sitting President. My dad was a Sky Soldier, 173rd Airborne 1965-66. Luckily he made it home. Actually, he was extremely lucky. My mom's brother, uncle Jack to me, 1st Infantry (the big red one), was in Nam the same time as dad. Unfortunately, uncle Jack was KIA. My mom's family requested that my dad escort Jack's body home. The Army granted dad two weeks leave to do so. While my dad was home during those two weeks, his whole platoon was killed in an ambush. Though i never got to meet uncle Jack, i wasn't born until '73, he will forever be my hero. Inadvertently through his death, he saved my dad's life. Thank you uncle Jack, i will forever be grateful to you and to every U.S. soldier who gave all, RIP.

There are still songs like this one, Angel Flight, If You’re Reading This, Arlington, and others who still make me weep. @@Quincy_Morris The US was already quietly supporting the war by sending arms to Britain without a payment agreement in the winter of 1940 and in July 1941 Marines were sent to Iceland to relieve a British garrison there as well as providing naval escorts to British ships n open waters.. The US then also placed sanctions on Japan cutting off their oil supply along with the Dutch and the British in Indochina. This followed by the American-controlled Philippines having the potential to block shipping routes from southeast Asia to Japan caused Tokyo to decide to a mount pre-emptive attack against both the Philippines and the American fleet at Pearl Harbour at the same time. This of course infuriated the US and they entered the war in their fullest capacity in 1941.

Rank this right up there with "Proud to be an American" by Lee Greenwood. I'm a 10-year Navy vet and still tear up over both songs!!!

I would like to dedicate this song to my adopted nephew who lost his life Wednesday night during a traffic stop; he wanted nothing more than to be a police officer. He gave all to serve and protect his community, and I'm proud to call him family. Rest in peace Officer Joe Burson; I love you nephew.

My Grandfather went to war, was mustard gassed and died in his 40's. It was a terrible death being unable to breathe, my Mother told me. I never got to meet him as he passed before I was born. He gave all, and his family paid a high price for the freedoms they r now trying to take away!

My husband was in Vietnam, boots on the ground. He was in an area where Agent Orange was used. He came home however, he was still a casualty of the war. He passed away in 2018. I miss him every day. He was my hero.
