This is a badass device. My bass sound now THUMPS and is so clear because of it. Amazing how useful a crossover is.

First, i wanted to say this was an incredible bass tone. I love whatcha did here! Smooth overdrive on a bass is beautiful! Im saving thos video for my records in case I need it. Second, a funny note, I was about to call cap on you when I saw the thumbnail because I looked at the bass and was like, "Boi, how you gonna say 'on a budget' when the bass itself is more than I make in a _leap_ year? 😂 There's only one model like it on the planet, and it's a whole labor day deal........as in 'It will take away the whole of your life's Labor in a day!' " But then you said that you were only using the P pickup, and I thought about something.........are we really only paying a premium for the other neck pickup and some extra? What are your thoughts? But forreal, great job on the tone. I'm looking for drive pedals, so I may consider this.

With the pedal off you can really hear how much of Billy's tone comes from the Dimarzio.

Yeah the Attitude bass is like 95% of his tone.

I would love to hear this with a better-quality recording. I have a feeling you're pretty spot on to what Billy does (albeit a highly simplified version). I just wanted a video of his where he talks about how he does exactly that. For the Dimarzio pickup, he uses a v1 of his pedal (in this particular video) with a compressor and Rolls SX21 in the distortion loop. I'm not terribly technologically savvy, but I doing that is accurate and is different than just using the tone knob on the pedal. Though that achieves a similar goal. The tone knob of the pedal controls the overall frequency sweep of the distortion channel, while putting a crossover or HPF in the effects loop of the distorted channel allows you to specifically set which frequencies are distorted (ie. send everything above a certain frequency point . . . 250, I think, in Billy's other video), to the distortion channel.

As we say around here "that's close enough for the girls we take out." And with a setup that you can carry in all at once. Any decent PBass should be able to come close. The Dimarzio is a really good idea though. The bright idea I got on a gig last night since on this gig it's a big room and I go the Geddy Lee approach no amp at all. But I kinda want this and my rig in a messenger bag too. Assuming that I can trust the soundman and hes good and willing to help make it happen (all that is true in fact) I'm wondering how to do it. Initial idea is a couple of SansAmps with the stereo bass. Works for Geddy but just has a standard mono J Bass. Any thoughts?

Jon, when also using effects in the dirty loop, would it be better to run them before or after the crossover? My hunch says put the crossover last, after the effect. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Definitely experiment with that. Crossover also works well in the clean loop to eliminate highs.

Can you explain to me what is the purpose of the low/high level knobs? I need it for one channel of my stereo rig like billy has. I just wanna cuz the low end off my drive signal going to my 1x15 cab. Do u just plug the 1/4th inch coming outta my pedal board in the input then pick either the high or low level to run to my amp?

Um, I have the same pedal, and the “Tone” knob does pretty much exactly what you’re doing by adding the Rolls crossover.
