Yes it was, I traveled from Baltimore for both shows in Lexington. Both night were great, but I think Friday was a little better.

Billy started playing in places like Manchester Music Hall and the Burl in Lexington and now he fills up the biggest venue in the city. No more hanging out with the band on the back porch of the Burl smoking up but its for the best. Billy is a once in a three generation talent and he deserves absolutely everything good happening in his life.

This evoked an emotion in me that I had been suppressing for no telling how long. I had recently lost a best friend that had come to me in the lowest part of my life and since the loss of her, life had just gotten so difficult again. I had tried to hold back the tears but this was so beautiful that I just had to let it go and in doing so I felt so much weight being lifted. I’ll be forever grateful for that moment. Thank you Billy❤

I had a pretty daughter, We lived all alone. We worked the fields together, And made ourselves a home. I sent her off to school, And rested in the shade. Had supper on the table, And my bed already made. The women in the town, Taught her how to dress. I taught her about farming, In school she learned the rest. Pretty daughter don't you love me? O I'll be left alone. There's no one in the holler That I can call my own. I know some day a man will come And take you far away. And every morn' since you was born, I pray it ain't today. Pretty daughter. Pretty daughter. I caught her in the woods, With a boy from town. I took a big axe to him, And laid him right on down. The sheriff came a lookin', I knew the next day, By six o'clock they'd locked him up, And threw the key away. Pretty daughter don't you love me? O I'll be left alone. There's no one in the holler That I can call my own. I know some day a man will come And take you far away. And every morn' since you was born, I pray it ain't today. Pretty daughter. Pretty daughter. Ky here I come😅🎉 Thank you.

Scary morals in one sense in the song... (Murder by the father)... I mean... Vedas say a man should not ever be alone with any female other than his lawful wedded wife. Sex impulse is so strong, that is why this is written in the wisdom of divinity. Loving father is supposed to get daughter a husband. What would a daughter do in life living alone with father for heaven's sake. At least father should be protective, that's not unusual... but violent murder?
@davidhale9672Күн бұрын
Long history of murder ballads in the American Musical Canon (although this is a modern take). Garcia and Cash were drawn to these tunes, for sure. Billy nails 'em all: Little Sadie, Dreadful Wind and Rain, his own My Alice...
