Such pain - this song speaks to a reality about women that no one seems willing or able to talk of. That is that for all the sweet words and adoring looks and caresses, all the subtle ways a woman uses to hold a man she always - ALWAYS has her eyes out for something better - A man who feels he is loved and cherished by "the most beautiful woman in the world" cannot see the perilous position he is in...and when that "most beautiful woman in the world" lets him down, betrays him. rejects his love and everything he has invested in her (emotionally and physically invested) he is instantly set adrift - he suddenly finds that he no longer knows who he is - he is unable to identify his feelings, his sense of self...he was so invested in her that he lost sight of himself. Paul Simon hints at this in his song "Slip Sliding Away" - he sings "...He wore his passion for his woman Like a thorny crown He said Delores I live in fear My love for you's so overpowering I'm afraid that I will disappear" By the way - I don't think very many people know that the name "Delores" means "pains and sorrows". This is how deeply a man will allow himself to fall for his woman - he literally invests all he is and all he has in expressing his love for a woman. The truth is that the vast majority of broken relationships / marriages it is the woman who initiates the breakup. Despite all her protestations and rationalizations to the opposite the fact is that women ONLY break up with a man AFTER she has already found another man who she thinks is better than what she already had. Taller, richer, better looking... Women ALWAYS have their "eye" on the exit door" and the fact that she is breaking the relationship means that she has already gone through that exit door unbeknownst to the man and is now throwing him a fatal blow. Here is another fact about women - the prettier, sexier, more feminine and attractive they are the more likely they are to being "serial heartbreakers". Often a woman will cry and say how badly they feel about it...but that's just for show and for appeasing her own sense of guilt..."if I cry and say how sorry I am and how bad I feel about myself..." makes it all ok in the end - right? Nevermind the devastation and destruction left in her wake.

My mother was fond of this song. She used to ask me to play it for her before her afternoon nap before I left for work. After she passed away in 2o14, I played it in remembrance of her during the holiday season. It was her favorite time of the year. In the old days, songs of love and romance were love letters or expressions of love to people you felt strong emotions for. They were meant to say what was hard to say. The time and thought of the message was everything. Here are a few more love songs for you, pretty lady, because I can see that you appreciate them. KEEP COMING BACK by Richard Marx. SEND ME A LOVER by Taylor Dayne. I'LL NEVER FALL IN LOVE AGAIN by Tom Jones. Enjoy

The dramatic words in song was perfect in the scene in "Family Ties". Michael J Fox, known from Back to the Future movies, was the star son in series, always serious, thought his future was Senator or President. Then a girl came in, he started changing, they broke up, was going to leave, scene was him trying to stop her leaving, she starts tearing, like hearing the song! Everybody liked the song like the scene, to millions since, scene and song go together!

My wife and I have been together for 60 years, met we at 14, and I still deeply love her every day. This song shows how much a man can love a woman.

This song was not originally a hit. But when the people on "Family Ties" were looking for a "break-up" song when Alex & Ellen did that on the show (Ironically, Michael J Fox & Tracey Pollan are married with kids for decades), someone on the show found this song and from it airing on that episode, it was re-released and went to #1 for 2 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart back in early 1987.

In the old days that song would be called a "Tear Jerker" because it just rips the tears right out of your eyes. I've been in that position a few too many times, and felt those emotions, and watched her walk out the door. I have loved this song since I heard it in my early 20s, and i am 59 now. Definitely a song I played on a loop a few times, crying in my beers. You should take a listen to Neal McCoy covering, "Then you can tell me goodbye". Another Tear Jerker, this one is originally from the 50s I think, but I liked Neal McCoy's version better.

Sadly, No more, these were the years when when even rock bands had horns…that really punched through…I forgot who arranged the horns …but all of these guys were studio musicians at one time or another…And the band members would vary depending who was available. The original released version Also had Jeff Baxter playing his steel guitar on some of those piano parts. They played for several years in the bars around Hollywood ..

I have someone i am missing. This is how I feel about her. She hasn't found herself another because she's not looking and I'm not looking. We have been to Hell and back now twice. I really would subtract 20 years from my life just to be with her again. Every night I cry out to God trying to make this trade. I don't know if I have 20 years but I'll give the rest of my life just to be with her. Another really good song is Hurt by Johnny Cash, a cover of the Nine Inch Nails song. And of course Rainbow by Kacey Musgraves, Missing You by John Waite
