I've loved this song since I was a kid. It still tears me up. Thanks for this song Mr Billy Vera. Excellent job.

Me too. Although I sometimes wonder if I would like it without the extended repeat of the libe 'if I could hold you'. Still maybe it is better with it. Just would be interesting to here it without the big ending.

This Scene takes me right back to being a kid in 1986. Beautiful. I wanna cry 😢.

Trying living it when my gf wrote me a "Dear John" letter when I was slugging it out in the army 9000 miles ago. It didn't make me mad, I simply took every opportunity to expose myself to gunfire as a combat medic. It didn't work, they gave medals for being an idiot instead...irony.

This song came out at a time in my life that made me question breaking up with my best friend/boyfriend. I heard this and doubted myself so many times, knowing how deeply I had hurt him. Hearing it again, I remember the pain, but in the end, it was the right thing to do.

I always forget about this song, I too loved it since I was younger. But I remember discovering it from a movie. Want to say Urban Cowboy? Always made me cry as a love-silly teen, and later! haha.

Mr. Vera thank you for your candid interview with ‘Professor of Rock’ (Adam Reader). I have appreciated this song since the first release 1981 (to young to understand the heartache) and was happy when it was rereleased again in 1987 (old enough to experience love lost). Thank you 🙏💜

Such a great song, Billy. And the band does a great job too. And the classic Orchids horn line-up as well. Terrific performance!

I wanna cry every time I listen to this song. It's like something Elvis would have done.
I've been there.suffered that pain, but didn't lose faith.if she would be happier with some one else I knew love meant caring about someone else's happiness more than my own.I gave myself 1 year to heal and get my head straight and just after I was ready to try to find someone who I could love even more than her,(less would not work for me I would rather live without love) she found that she could not be happy with less.so we reunited and have lived very happy for the last 50 years without even 1 yelling argument.but I will never forget that moment, not with anger but with thankfulness that it passed and we survived

No disrespect to this great song/performance, but that keys player had it sounding like the Super Mario "Underground" theme for a hot second. 👀
