As a Canadian, I've grown to see him as a folk hero, like how USA has Bob Dylan or Springsteen, or how Canada has the hip (gord downie) and Gordon Lightfoot. I've come to love this cover more than the OG. And that's solely based on a preference, and not a musically trained ear or whatnot.
