I feel so disappointed now that i see this video and these comments. I always thought Raditude was top 10 for Weezer. Not better than Pinkerton, Blue, Green, Maladroit, EWBAIT, White, and Make Believe, but I always thought it was better than Hurley, Red, Pacific Daydream etc. Especially with the song “Can’t stop partying”. @scottmiller3646 жыл бұрын
When I first saw "Can't Stop Partying" on the Raditude play list I was excited. Then absolutely hated how they had altered it for the Album. The original demo, which you can hear on Rivers' Alone II album, has a much more somber tone and comes off as more of a criticism of the rock star lifestyle. Deciding between Blue and Pink is an exercise in splitting hairs. I usually put Blue as number #1, merely because it tells us what Weezer is supposed to be and Pink #2 as it gives us the dark side of what Weezer is - and both are awesome. Either way, Blue and Pink are 20 amazing tracks that will make you forgive any of their other sins.

Pffft, aaaaah, don't take too much stock in Pitchfork's reviews. A lot of the stuff from around that time was done by hipster kids who wanted a name for themselves. For instance, the Sonic Youth album NYC Ghosts & Flowers got a straight-up 0 and the dude basically said "i've been waiting to give something a 0" and then said he hated the album because... it was... *too New York* . GEE. AN ALBUM CALLED NYC GHOSTS & FLOWERS, TOO NEW YORK. HMMMM. and then years later turned around and called it one of his favorite Sonic Youth albums. Mmhmm.

Yeah I decided to listen to their whole discography for the first time (I'd only heard their Blue/Red/White/Green album hits on the radio and a few others but never a majority of their songs) recently and I found myself thinking that Pacific Daydream was pretty meh (I liked some of the songs because I don't mind the sound overall, but the production of them didn't fit Weezer in my eyes, if that makes sense) then to hear Black doubled down on that was a bit saddening despite me enjoying Can't Knock the Hustle when it came on the radio. Glad it was followed up by OK Human and looking forward to Van Weezer though

i think i'm starting to really enjoy pacific daydream after a few listens (minus the singles, which were by far the worst songs on that album) the black album though? apart from 3 songs i just cannot get into it no matter how many times i listen to it with a new mindset. it's just a bad album in my opinion.

The White Album will always have a special place for me. I remember I was going to see Panic! At The Disco and when I bought the tickets, I saw that Weezer was performing with them. I had no clue who they were at that time until I asked my parents and then I realized I knew many of their songs that were on the radio. The White Album was my first Weezer album and before I listened to that, I didn’t even consider listening to that. This album blew me away and made me the huge fan I am today. I absolutely love the Blue Album and Pinkerton and really don’t hate any of their albums. I do think the worst is the Black Album because I like the sound of Pacific Daydream better.

The White Album has a special place in my heart. My summer of the year it came out (2016) seemed to perfectly match the album. I met a girl, fell in love, and she broke my heart. It was terrible, and I still haven't really gotten over it. I still listen to the first half of the album to remember when I was younger and times were good.

What makes Pinkerton so good is its thematic cohesion, every song ties back into the themes of sex, love, longing and loneliness from different, but related, perspectives. He's tired of casual relationships, he wants to getchoo and forge a deeper connection, but something always inevitably gets in the way (the ocean, her sexual orientation, his own insecurities, etc.). And we don't get closure by the end either, we're also left yearning for something we can't have and may never come.

Snuffleupagus Same. I was listening to random Weezer songs, then came across Weekend Woman, and I was like "dang, this is actually really good." I haven't listened to the rest of Pacific Daydream yet, but I'll just pretend it's as good as that song.

When 'The White Album' came out, he "had [his] senior class trip." It's funny how perspective can be shaped by our placement in a generation and our perspective. I was going into junior high when 'The Blue Album' came out. I think this lens colors how I value their whole discography. I just don't get one stitch of 'Make Believe,' 'Pacific Daydream,' or 'Hurley.' To me, the closer Weezer's sound gets to that original garage rock/power pop sound ('The White Album, and 'Everything Will Be Alright...' are excellent examples), the "better" the album is, to me.

I don't think Make Believe is underrated, I think it's overhated. And I've heard Rivers say in interviews that "where's my sex?" Is a joking tribute song for like his child, because she's always asking where are her socks, but she was unable to say the words sock, and said it as sex instead. Till the whole song is about a little kid trying to find their socks, but they can't say socks, they can only say sex

i really like this list. i've very recently been getting into weezer, and have only really been listening to 4 albums (blue, pinkerton, green, teal) i gasped a little when i saw your placement of the green album, just because i love it so much. the way the songs sound always gets me in a good mood, and i always feel better listening to it. however, i understand your reasoning. after all, when i first started listening to it, i couldn't tell which song i was about to go into because... some things about them are pretty similar. and for some reason, i felt relieved when seeing your #2 and #1 spots. i adore pinkerton, and its the first weezer album i've listened to on repeat. seriously can't get enough of it. your list has inspired me to listen to the other albums you've put at high spots, so thank you for that :)

I'd put EWBAITE higher honestly, I really really like how in depth you went into each album though, you really know your stuff, and I can totally respect that you don't have the same emotional connections to some of the songs I do, but instead have your own, which I can kinda relate to in a weird sense. Really great video, 10/10

I feel like you make a good point about the themes of weezer songs being sad, while the feeling you get from hearing them is upbeat. When you look into My Name is Jonas its about a car accident Rivers' brother was in. You can find that mismatch of tone and sound in a lot of their songs. also i would've liked to see you play more of the songs on your guitar yourself like you did on the red album.

Pinkerton is such a good album. The b sides were honestly enough to make an album of their own and it probably would have been number 3 on the list. Tragic girl is probably the best b side I’ve ever heard in my entire life. But yeah Pinkerton is definitely their best album. Also the red album is really underrated. Same as Pinkerton, the b sides on that one are great. You’ve got mrs sweeny which is funny, pig which is really sad but great and spider which almost makes me cry every time lol. He literally translates his own pain as a spider being washed down a drain and it’s so raw “as my bones break and I taste the steel” so good. Edit: so what I’ve learned from reading the comments is this: 1: blue, Pinkerton 2: white 3: the other ones lol
