For you Joe For my cousin Joe who used to come with me when i did discos at age of 16 back in the days of 1981 and we had good fun, Joe used to carry the records as he had bottle of red wine and weed in the boxs. He always asked me to play this song which i did. Sadly we lost my cousin Joe to cancer, died 25th June 2016 aged 48 and his funeral was this day 5 years ago and as we left the church this started to play Miss you Joe

I haven’t listed to them in years, and yet to this day, this song and “Lip Up Fatty” are 2 of the songs I subconsciously sing to myself occasionally, that’s how they’ve stuck with me. This one is probably my favourite. When I first saw them on TOTP I was convinced they were a skinhead band because of Buster’s bald head, bovver boot and rowdy, loutish stage antics, and obviously the ska music, but watching them now I realise the rest of the band were anything but. I never noticed the others before because Buster seemed to fill the stage. “Nee Nee Na Na Na Na Nu Nu!!!”

Got to say I disagree. Bad Manners were a key part of the ska scene at the time. The only way they weren't taken seriously is they didn't take themselves seriously as can be judged by this and all their other videos & TOTP videos. Same as Madness but obviously didn't clock up as many hits and the Nutty Boys were the official mad uns. I think they just encapsulate the times: all about fun and the music. None of this boring self-centred posing now

"Walking In The Sunshine" Wet winter left me cold and crying, Beaten black and blue, Someone said there's no harm in trying, Nothing else to do. I'm just a-walking in the sunshine, Leave your troubles all behind you, I think I'll drink a little red wine, I'll take you where they'll never find you. Sad songs, well I've heard to many, Words that didn't rhyme, Long years never had a penny, But we spend the time. Just a-walking in the sunshine, Try to keep from going under, I think I'll drink a little red wine, Ain't no use to sit and wonder. As I would say? Autumn eve and the leaves are falling, Till the trees are bare, Summer's gone I can hear you calling, Haven't got a care. Just a-walking in the sunshine, Leave your troubles behind you, I think I'll drink a little red wine, I'll take you where they'll never find you. As I would say?

Also from the year 1981 on a repeat edition of Top of the Pops on BBC4, they played the music video for Walking In the Sunshine by British SKA Band 'Bad Manners'. The single was released in September 1981. The single was taken from the group's third studio album 'Gosh It's...Bad Manners' which was also released in 1981. The incredible thing about the music video for Walking In the Sunshine' is that like the group Madness, Bad Manners with their music videos, were able to create a real cinema verte (real-life documentary feel) to the look aesthetic of their music videos. Remember, these are still the early days of the British music video, and (as can be seen in this music video) Bands like Bad Manners, were going for the look of real human feelings and emotions from their visual medium of their music videos. The look and feel of early videos like this, (which by and large is a look that leading British independent and leading filmmakers were going for in their films in the 1960's and 70's) is something that I think, British music video directors in this early period should be very proud of.
