This is a nice improvement to the Mavic 3 Enterprise however I really hope they don't do away with the larger Matrice 30T line. The agency I work for relies on the hot-swappable battery feature to conduct an immediate battery swap and get back overhead without the need to reboot up the aircraft or bunny-hop a second aircraft requiring additional personnel.

Bootup on the M4T is only 15 seconds, which all but eliminates the need for hot swapping. For most users anyway.

Yep it's just a slightly larger Mavic 3T with stuff that's not needed realistically (LRF, size increase, AI gimmicks). Now you've lost the ultra compact size which is worth everything.

Cold up there! Great looking drone. Thermal imaging is very sharp. I remember doing some winter Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) in Montreal and Toronto in January..... very cold indeed! Stay warm and travel safe back to Philly!

All thermal is super sharp and more effective contrasting in cold weather/night to be fair. I notice it is very difficult to find and track with thermal during warm weather.

Yes, a bit. Form factor is same, but looks about 15% upscaled. Weighs over 1200 grammes.

Yes, which sucks. The 3T is going to be as big as you desire for ultimate stealth and fitting into a pack with all your other stuff. The 4T doesn't even add weather capabilities (IP67). Lame. Don't forget to add the spotlight!

Considering the price of these drones, do you think that the drones would benefit from an onboard back up battery for redundancy? This may give an extra 5 or 10 mins of flight in case of main battery failure or just for that unforeseen emergency,. (Obviously not for the mini drones because of weight.)

Yea no IP67 makes it a 100% loser. It's the ONLY thing missing from the 3E/3T. I still wish I could use mine in adverse weather because SAR and criminal activity don't stop for weather!

Nice Job Billy jumping on the opportunity to give a first look at this new drone. My guess is we won't see a Mavic 4E series now. Looks like DJI is separating its lines. Maurice will be Enterprise and Mavic will be consumer/prosumer. Was really hoping for 1280x1024 thermal payload. When you do complete review, please address how DJI is able to produce thermal images/video with the640x512 sensor as it says it can do in the specs??? Are they using AI??

Really good review, Billy. I just got an email about this, and I'm interested in it. I have a mavic 3 pro now. My main question on the matrice 4, is how much can you zoom in and still maintain 4k resolution? I see their are two versions. One is $7,000 and the other is $4,000. I assume the cheaper one would be good enough for me. I like the small size too. I emailed DJI about the zoom, but they haven't replied yet.

Why would they put the parachute in the location that the accessories go to for that drone. It should be over top the center to allow the accessories to be placed on it. Which include a searchlight and speakers

The location of the parachute is per the DJI developer guide. As well, the maxtow only allows for 190 grams, which means you cannot have the other accessories.

Can you even buy this with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection blocking the import of DJI drones? So that's why I can't get excited about all the DJI FCC approvals and now Autel has been added to D.O.D list as well. 🤔

What current ban? There is no ban. The CCCPDA language was not implemented in the NDAA that passed in December. There's at least another year before something would take effect, and that would only trigger the FCC to not approve future wireless spectrum requests. It would not impact existing devices. DJI could continue to sell the approved devices for years.

A bit better zoom than Mavic 3T, but still doesn't add IP67 and it is larger. Now I see why greedy DJI never added Smart track/Activetrack. It's always been like this with DJI: you're always wanting and wondering why they didn't add basic features for a marketed SAR/recon drone. I'll pass. It's great if you are new to these capabilities though. Still not as easily compact as a Mavic 3T.

No dual inetrnals or battery and no weather proofing. Less zoom so I cant see it replacing m30t, but is cheaper option if u fly on fair weather only. And brings most of what m30t brings. Tho m30t has come down quite a bit from the launch. The E model looks interesting tho u don't wanna do mapping on shitty weather anyways.

The problem with these type of videos is that they are made by someone who doesn't fly professionally with a DJI Matrice everyday. The zoom is good, but feels exactly the same as the zoom in the M30T. I can't notice any improvement there. The speed is also the same. The AI though, that is a game changer! Can't wait to see where that goes with firmware updates and new versions.
