Be sure to stay tuned, as tomorrow, I'll be talking about the bosses (Getting a rare double-feature this weekend, since I kinda want to get to the later Zelda games a bit quicker).

I'm one of the few people that prefers this game over the original Zelda due to how unique it is. Beating it was very satisfying. I also absolutely love the randomizer as it is the only one for a Zelda game that can randomize the entire world map, which provides unique experience every playthrough.

It does get more hate than it actually deserves for "not being the same as all other Zelda games." They need to keep in mind...this was the SECOND Zelda game, not the 20th. Back then, there was the first one (top down), and this (side scroller)...but it is constantly being compared to the later games which decided on Top-Down to be the main playstyle. I loved Zelda 2, and it's "leveling system." Do I miss the usable items and puzzles? Yes.....but, as I said...this was the second game in the series before it decided on it's major identity.

I did beat this game twice but I definitely used the rewind feature more than I would have liked. Great video Billy. It's going to be fun getting into ALTTP and beyond. Can't wait to see your commentary on those games.

The next video is releasing tomorrow?!? I can’t wait.

We beat this game back when it came out in the 1980s without a guide.

Which is absolutely iconic. You all laid the groundwork.

Same here. Never used a guide, and still found everything (well...maybe except all the "secret areas" that only rewarded Point-Bags or Magic Jars. Not worth treading every tile for.)

Zelda 2 might just be my favorite Zelda game. I think it's because once you get good at the combat it's almost like a dance, and the 100% all keys no continues speedrun is such a fun challenge once you can get to that level. That being said, palace 5 with those fire-tossing Mago enemies can eat dirt.

Truth be told, I've never liked this game, but alas, you made it look better than I remember it being

I think it's an acquired taste. Once you get over the hurdle of Death Mountain, and if you're using the Switch to play it you can rewind the more unfair deaths, its way more bearable.

great temple is easily the hardest dungeon in the entire series. despite some unfair moments (such as thunderbird needing the thunder magic), it delivers really well for a final dungeon. i do miss when zelda final dungeons were notorious for their difficulty. the nes entries, and ganon's tower were the hardest final dungeons. the next entry that came close to having a challenging final dungeon was the final section in the tower of spirits. dark hyrule castle is decent but no where near the challenge of the other dungeons. botw hyrule castle can also come close to it if you enter it at the start. sky keep is the only final dungeon that introduces a fresh gimmick that the series could explore more from.

You know, with how much crap this game gets I always loved the side scrolling aspect of the dungeons. It felt like playing a metroidvania of sorts Edit: Ok, those bubbles chasing you down the hall and up the elevator had me dying 😂

I was going to say, this game is scarily similar to Castlevania 2, both in it's playstyle & in some of it's obtuse puzzle solving. Metroidvania fans might actually enjoy this game more than they think.

I consider this game a way more interesting talking piece over Zelda 1. Yes, the difficulty can be a bit much but i think that simply makes the achievement a bit sweeter. Also, cant wait for that viewership explosion when at Link to The Past. You know the algorithm is gonna love that game lol.
@BillySYT Жыл бұрын
I'm lowkey praying Link to the Past does alright when I get to it. I knew the Zelda 1/2 vids would be niche at best, but I'll still be making these videos regardless ^^

To be honest... Zelda 2 was the first Zelda I played... and it took until Ocarina to get me back on the wagon

"There are some people who look upon this game with fondness" Yeah that'd be me... we never got zelda 1 but we had 2 and I was so good at this game. My neighbour had zelda 1 and we tried swapping games and neither of us did well lmao 🤣 For some reason I never needed a guide, I dont know what it was about gaming in the late 80s, early 90s but I don't know how I ever knew the things I did

The adventure of link should have had a respawn point at the start of every new dungeon, and one at the beginning of the second continent.
@BillySYT11 ай бұрын
Agreed - It would have made the game for more manageable.

Death Mountain is intended to be tackled after the SECOND Palace of the game....The Marsh Palace....although....I don't think the Dungeon item is required to reach Death Mountain, the Power Glove.

This is the hardest game I ever beat. I needed Game Genie to do it but hey, haha

I'm very good at this game, but I don't like it. You got any games like that, Billy?
@BillySYT Жыл бұрын
I used to be very good at Overwatch, but I absolutely cannot stand it anymore. Aside from that, not really. I have a personality type where if I don't like a game, I likely wouldn't bother playing it long term, even if I was good at it ^^
