Critics said Carrie can't write dark songs. And then this album came out and critics were silenced by this album. Every time, critics say Carrie can't do certain type of song, Carrie comes out with that type of song.

I love that she smiles during this. It's probably not meant to be that deep, but I imagine Jenny smiling too. Smiling, because she just got married and is going to live in a mansion. Smiling, because her life is supposed to be perfect and she doesn't want anyone to know her pain. Smiling, because she is free of her abuser and has had her revenge.

A lot Carrie's songs are like... sure, they're dark, but they make me feel seen. (I suspect they make many women and / or abuse survivors feel seen.) It's acknowledging something that goes unspoken all too often, allowing me to belt the song out like nobody cares and actually feeling good while doing it - all those emotions need to go somewhere. They're loud, messy emotions, perfectly fitting to a song that's a little heavier too. Having a song to rock out to helps me work through things, especially if the bastard gets his comeuppance.

@kateluxor29865 жыл бұрын
I hate to tell you this man but Carrie Underwood is very happily married to a hockey player and has two beautiful young sons. So, you're pretty much screwed on that part! JK! But yeah, that's pretty much Carrie Underwood for you: certain songs will start off happy and then by the second verse it gets dark really quickly. There is another video that has a dark theme but is a bit more..morbid. But it's a great song! It's called "Better Dig Two" by The Band Perry. The lead singer and one of the guitar players just happen to be the children of none other than Steve Perry of Journey! I think you should give it a shot because the song is written by the band members, the video is really weird but cool and the lyrics are pretty interesting. But that's up to you Billy! Great reaction as always!

I really appreciate your reaction to this video. There was another reactor who watched this song, and all he could talk about was how hot Carrie looked in her dress as she was singing about domestic abuse. He did not acknowledge the actual song at all, apart from her ability to sing. I always get offended when artists take the time to bring awareness to any type of abuse just for people like that to brush it under the rug. It always means a lot when a reactor takes it seriously.
