@@ctbadcop15 I'm talking about the part of your comment where you wrote to Kathleen Tate that "no one ever catches it." When you wrote that, two people had caught it. Kathleen had, and she's not a no one. And you had, and you're not a no one too. That's two people who caught it, but you wrote no one did. That's the part of your statement that I disagreed with. It's always been said to watch out for the "quiet ones". I remember a girl from school who was one of those "quiet girls". Then one day some "agitators" in class started a fight with her. Well she tore their butts up. Surprised all of us who had known her for years. And we all cheered her on. Those girls deserved what they got from her...

My family heritage is old school European. I remember when I watched the movie of this with my older relatives who came over on the boat. They said that where they lived, all the guys in the village would take the guilty ones who attacked a girl or child and castrated them then banished them from the village. They missed those days as very few dared to commit crimes due to the punishment being one and done.

I was not raised to be either or I was the one taking care of my father so i pretty much had to be an adult starting at 8( I know there are others that share the same story in one form or another) but I grew up being an extreme pacifist I would not even fight to defend myself... to be fair that was never much of a problem I was always a BIG guy no matter what age so people didn't tend to even try to start anything... anyways I kind of found out by mistake how I was when it came to fighting... I would not do anything to defend myself but you go for friends or family... I admittedly lose control and most of the time don't remember what happened unless someone saw it and tells me so I don't even know if I am a good fighter or if my size does all the work or if I just never had an altercation with someone who knew how to fight. Frankly the fact that I "black out" as some people would call it Scares the shit outta me. sorry for the rambling I do not know why I felt it necessary to write all that but I am not changing it now... lol. feel free to ignore me.

Notice his father said "walk away from trouble **IF** you can" and "you don't have to fight **TO BE** a man".... which fits perfectly with Tommy's response at the end saying "sometimes you have to fight **WHEN** you're a man"... they do not contradict at all... you DON'T have to fight TO BE a man, but sometimes you have to fight because you're a man... and when they hurt the women in your life, that's when a man has to fight. If only young men today were told this and understood the depth of meaning in the words to this song. A real man fights to protect the weak, not to prove he's a man.

I read a book called "Shades of Gray" Not "50 Shades of Gray" which was a book that took place right after the Civil War. After the war the main character's parents and siblings died, either from the fighting or illness, so he was sent to live with his Uncle who a lot of people hated(including the main character) because he refused to fight in the war(the reason is explained in the book). He once walked into a store and was challenged to a fight by the store owner, he said he had no reason to fight him and started to walk away. The store owner called him a coward, so he turned around and picked him up by his shirt and said, "Who's the coward, the man who walks away from a fight he knows he can win, or a man who makes a challenge he knows won't be accepted?" I suggest reading the book, it's really good)

If you take out the person responsible for it, you go to prison or die and then your wife or daughter then must face the tragedy and trauma on their own. You are no longer their rock. I know what we want to do, but think it though, don't leave them.
