I lost my brother when he was 5 days away from being 6 months old. I was 6 at the time and to see my parents slowly breakdown after his death was hard to cope with. If my family did not have the church community that they had back then supporting them I don't know if they would have gotten through it. My dad said to me as were at the visitation looking at his coffin, "They shouldn't have to make coffins this small." I still cry thinking about it. One of the songs that breaks my family down everytime they hear it is Held by Natalie Grant. We saw her in a concert not longer after, and she played this song and my dad hugged me and started sobbing 😖😭

I have a 21-year-old son and I cannot even fathom losing him. I have to remind myself everyday is precious that I have with my children and that God has blessed me by giving them to me because ultimately they're his children. We are his children and he loans these amazing human beings to us to enjoy and love. I don't let myself sweat the small stuff anymore especially after losing so many people in such a short amount of time over the last 10 years. My mother, my father, cousins, my best friend committed suicide a few months ago, and I've lost more friends than I can even count because of drugs. I have a really hard time with loss and coping with it so to see the strength coming through TobyMac it's 100% God's strength that's what I've realized is I don't have the strength that's why I need a savior to give me his strength. You should really follow this reaction up with TobyMac - Scars | it’s a song he wrote about his song a year before his death. Truett Foster - Heaven | one of his sons songs, my favorite track from him. TobyMac also features his son in a song in almost every album he released, which is what made this loss hit his fan base so hard. We legit watched his son grow and get more skilled with each of Toby’s albums. Just look up TobyMac Feat truDog. Everyone else can throw out songs from Toby to check out - he’s one of the biggest Christian artists and has been for all of the 2000s. Truett wanted to wait til he had lived a little before making music. So he waited til he was 21 and was dropping tracks and had just did his first concert days before his death (“watch you do your second show” - his dad was at his only concert). His music isn’t Christian (not an important fact, but a lot of judgmental Christians make a big deal of it). My favorites are Heaven, Masterpiece, Wait, Facts, Eyes, idk why.

I'm not crying! I have allergies. This song is so touching. I can't imagine the pain of losing a child no matter their age. But also to have your grief and pain played out before the world to see. It reminds me of when Steven Curtis Chapman's family lost their 6 year old daughter. She was running to her brother coming down their driveway, He never saw her and he accidently ran over her. It was so tragic and traumatizing for the 17 year old brother. :(

Steven Curtis Chapman - Cinderella. That's another tear jerker song, it's a song about his little (adopted) girl that got killed at a young age and by her brother (accidental of course), but it's a great song despite the reason how it got written.

His son died of a drug overdose and the sad part was he was on tour when it happened and he wasn’t around when it happened so he couldn’t stop it from happening. After that happened he never thought he would ever write an up tempo song again until he was reading the Bible and he read a passage about god rolling up his sleeves again and after that he wrote help is in the way which is his current hit.
