I’m hoping I can put my van on air at some stage. Great job 👏 👍

That would be a great vid if doing yourself. Lots of work involved but helps keep the cost down

How far did you wind them down? Ive got b14 komforts going on my t5 but not sure how far to drop. I am on 20inch allys. Want the arches fillled.
@vwtransportersandmotorcycl37298 ай бұрын
I started with them at the top setting as and drove on them a little as they will inevitably settle a bit. Then wound them down a bit at a time. I did it in a few goes. My main issue was the rear always looked like it was dragging its arse and thats the sole reason I went back to coil overs so that I can adjust it to look level. With 20’s might be an idea for you to also start at the highest setting as its a bigger wheel. Let my know how the komforts are. Good luck

Where did you jack on to raise the motor up to get the axle stands in mate ?
@vwtransportersandmotorcycl37298 ай бұрын
Hi, I just put the jack under the shock or somewhere solid. Can be tricky as the van was already lowered. Just make sure it’s not going to slip off before you get the axle stand in place 👍

hi mate, i've got to do some work on the rear of my van, are you jacking the van up on the suspension arm under the spring? Just want to make sure and to be safe before I attempt it.
@vwtransportersandmotorcycl3729Ай бұрын
@@coopsT5 sometimes a combination of both as it lowered. Sometimes use scissor jack on the sill to raise slightly and get bottle jack under the rear arm. But if you need the arm to come down to work on suspension then your best off jacking under the mountain points of the bottom arm and getting axle stands under the sills with a block of wood. I always put my wheels under the van as added safety. Hope that helps a little……made sense in my head lol

@@vwtransportersandmotorcycl3729 I've seen a lot of T5 owners asking about jacking points, and where to position axle stands, maybe a new video idea for you mate.
@vwtransportersandmotorcycl3729Ай бұрын
@@coopsT5 The front and rear parts of the sills are reinforced to take the scissor jack so should be ok. Could make a vid actually, not a bad idea lol

I certainly hope so Dylan, its something I’ve been undecided about for a long time, but needed doing, impressed so far though!

I changed from 20” to 18 the previous owner put on . I want to lift for more clearance. Do you have to take the shock off to adjust the spring with a c spanner
@vwtransportersandmotorcycl37296 ай бұрын
Hi, I’ve just upgraded last week to 19 inch lol. It’s a good question to be fair, when I put them on I adjusted them to where I thought they needed to be and they were spot on so not needed to do any more adjustment. It would probably be less of a faff to be honest as the adjuster is at the top and I can imagine it to be difficult if you didn’t. Thanks for commenting 👍

I did my suspension on my T6. The rears are simple, but the front is another matter 😂
@vwtransportersandmotorcycl3729 Жыл бұрын
It’s doable though mate, just need to get the right tools, which even if probably cheaper than paying someone to do it lol

Out of interest why is this set up.better than simple drop springs .asking as I've a t6 on order
@vwtransportersandmotorcycl37299 ай бұрын
Hi, I put on cheap coilovers years ago and had it really low and found it really hard and bouncy which was uncomfortable and I eventually got fed up. I then decided to put a 40mm drop springs with standard shocks which was so much better until eventually the shocks were worn and needed to replace 4 of them, so rather than pay for 4 standard shocks I decided on the Bilsteins as expensive coilovers are much better than cheap ones. Also the other reason was as the van is a camper, it always looked like it was dragging its arse due to the extra weight in the back so by getting coilovers I could get the van looking level by adjusting the height. The Bilsteins are great on smooth roads but can feels crashy on our crap British roads but nowhere near as crap as the cheap coilovers. Hope that answers your question and thanks for the comment. Good luck with the T6 and hope you find something that might be of interest with my other vids. 🤙🤙
