it MUST have been haunted, due to it's sheer scope and size. (no self respecting ghost would ever haunt a 3 bedroom ranch on Maple Drive.)

They not only had their own rooms but they did have bathrooms they servants could share. Everyone still had chamber pots and pitcher/bowls in their rooms. It wasn’t uncommon at this time. The great room is called the Banquet Hall and there are only fireplaces on one end. The organ was not placed in the home until 1995, 100 years after the home was opened. The library only has half of the collection, just over 10,000 volumes. He had over 20,000 in his entire collection. Most are around the home, the third floor and in the home’s archives. The ceiling also is oil on canvas. It is in 13 pieces.

Hi, great video! My wife and I live in Franklin Carolina and we visited Biltmore this past june. I never felt anything weird until we went to the basement. The Halloween room in particular made me feel very oppressed as well as the pool area! Had a hard time breathing and almost had a panic attack. Left soon after. They would make a pile of cash if they did a nighttime ghost tour.

You are so right and they seriously need to do a ghost tour! I would sign up! Hope to see you in more videos! 🫶🏻 also next time you visit let me know and I’ll tell you some great places to check out!

The original Biltmore pipe organ was installed in1895, but soon after it was donated by George Vanderbilt to All Souls Church in Biltmore Village where it still plays. The present organ, built by E.M. Skinner in 1916, was given by a private donor and is similar to the original one. It was not installed again until 1998, so the organ loft was empty of organ pipes (other than for the facade/display pipes) for about a century.

No question this mansion is georgous inside and out. I like the fact that despite their wealth the Vanderbuilts were nice and generous people who didn't look down on anyone. Mrs Vanderbuilt loved animals just like I love my cat, gerbils, and hermit crabs. I love sitting on my balcony during a thunderstorm. Mr. Vanderbuilt loved his place so it doesn't surprise me that he stays in certain parts of the house even after his death. I agree that the lower area is creepy.

I know its been mentioned already but George didn't own slaves and him and his family were staunch abolitionists. George was named after his Uncle George who was a Captain for the Union Army during the civil war. GWV actually had the first de-segregated work force in North Carolina offering well paying jobs to poor black share croppers and tenant farmers in the area. George Vanderbits head blacksmith (the one who constructed the iron gates leading to the house) was a former slave.

You are absolutely correct and I accidentally misspoke. I appreciate you coming from an historical perspective and not attacking me. This is a very early video of mine and I’m trying to learn how to edit an already published video to correct it. It would be difficult to delete the video with all the work I put in but I am trying to fix that. Again thank you for the comment and you are absolutely correct. I hope you stick around and watch more!

Hi! Thank you so much!!! I hope you stick around and watch more! Let me know your experience after you go into the pool area 😁 the compound was known as the biltmore forestry school and it’s on the property by the lake. You should be about to google the concordance and see it. It’s really run down now. While you are in town you should check out the grove park inn! It’s free to go, you just need to pay for parking. It’s haunted by a pink lady. I’m going there next to make a video 😁

I visited there as a teen and as I walked up one of the spiral stair wells I got this terrible feeling I was going to fall it got ice cold and as I reached the top all of a sudden I got sick to my stomach then a woman in period clothing spoke to me and said I looked ill I turned my head to look back down the stairs and when I turned back towards her she was gone
