The Toronto police nipped a copycat protest in the bud. They kept the trucks moving and didn’t let them turn toward the Legislature. The trucks blew their horns for an hour, while moving along, and weren’t gone in an hour. No bouncy castles for truant children. The protest didn’t hurt Trudeau politically. By the time he proclaimed the Emergencies Act, most people in Canada and everyone in Ottawa thought, “About effin’ time!”
