Would this work on a fat tire bike?
@jamesharrison71143 жыл бұрын
It looks like this is only compatible with Mountain bikes with the rear brake caliper on the top side. I would love to see a bottom side compatible version for commuter bikes. The weight of this thing would be sweet for commuting on a fitness bike with Pas enabled.

What's the long term durability test for shear force on disc brake bolts? More torque through the disc brake over time?

the force isn't really in shear its mostly in tension

Does the drive make more positive contact at the rotor if you're using metal pads instead of resin or ceramic? And how does it perform in the wet. And is there regenerative braking, or does it freewheel when the power is off coasting downhill? Great concept, but for the money you could effectively buy an entry level pedal assist electric bike... made in China.

Nice idea, but for the price I can buy a REI Citi 2.1 with mid drive Bosc motor and still have 500 bucks left in my pocket. Don't get me wrong, it's a good product just over priced. And there's still a installation needed. According to the website it's $1,950.00 purchase price.

It would be nice to know if you can also install in front to make a 2WD system, but that price will be the downfall of this products, how many times the price to get compact vs bulky kits disregarding the fact you can detach the system, which most wont do anyway. I still like the product, just window shopping though

Glad to see a company thinking outside the box for an ebike conversion kit! There clearly needs a bit more R&D to refine this for flat mount brake setup and some type of torque sensing application. I wish they are able to come up with a better wiring management solution, this is always a struggle with conversation kits. That said … I just checked out their website and this thing is going for a whooping $2K for the unit!!! At the pricing, this will leave a lot of users in the dark. I sincerely hopes this thing takes off, but I really think this is a bit over priced.

That is an awesome idea, but it's not going anywhere at that price. I don't care how convenient and light it is, if it's 4-5 times more expensive then any e-bike motor of comparable power. For this price I could get a whole Bafang kit, with more power, a battery, AND the bike to put it on... and a couple pizzas. Still, a great idea. Whoever starts making the more affordable knockoffs of this product is going to do really well.
@bobby0panganiban2 жыл бұрын
REI Coop 2.1 with 250 watts Bosch mid drive motor is just $1,599. You have a whole e-bike plus 500 change. You right, nice design but way over priced. I'm waiting for this one, No installation needed. The only thing that will stop me from buying is if it is way over price too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5WXh4KEibOni9k

£2000 though 😮. Put that price on top of your bike purchase and you may as well just buy an e-bike from the off.

So I can put this on more than one of my bikes and make each one a high end ebike. 2k is a chunk of $ but for what I get, I’d say worth the investment.

Perfect minimalist approach - and it looks like bad news for the other (similar, but much more bulky) disc brake concept. However, not very price competitive @USD$1950.

I will say this, it's berry clever. Berry clever, indeedy! Well done. Now all ya really need to do is to make is far more affordable for the average Joe, and it will be much more practical. I know you and yer team can make that haooen--and you guys would still be able to make a very good profit. I say go for it. You'd be doing alot of people a real justice who need to get around in hilly areas such as where I currently reside. And many of us are on disability, so that's the other reason it would be good to make it cheaper for people in fhe low-income bracket.🤔
@Thomas-hq9eg3 жыл бұрын
This is really cool and I get the pricing of something like this... but oof! $1,950 is just way too much to ask the vast majority of people to drop on this.
@eastwood1113 жыл бұрын
Yeah I can see a $900 price tag even be an expensive. I’m sure other companies will copy this concept for cheaper
@andreweasternman87883 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it really is too over-priced, to be honest. I mean who could possibly afford something like this, unless they own their own company, or work at a very good job? My other question is what range does this apparatus have between charges? The current electric bikes suck ass, in terms of mileage. Just not good enough, to really be worth the trouble. Far better to just by a light bike and pedal along without all the extra weight and complexity and maintenance concerns of a motor with 💩shitty mileage.🙄😳
@gabriels11633 жыл бұрын
@@andreweasternman8788 My emtb gets 30-60 miles depending on the route. My electric cargo bike gets over 50 miles. Its pretty damn rare I need more than that, and both those distances are way further than most people would ever ride without a motor.
@faisfaizal51942 жыл бұрын
Here in my country, at that price point, you legit can buy a brand new 160cc naked bike.. Now I wonder.. How the hell does a teeny tiny motor be the same price as a street legal, full-fledged naked sports bike? AN ENTIRE FREAKING MOTORCYCLE

Not at $2k 🖐️ can buy a full bike for that.

If they don't get caught up in the power wars this could be just the thing that my wife and I are lseeking for bike packing. Every ebike drive I've seen so far is only useful for commuters or people looking for a few hours of woo hoo then taking the toy home. We want to be able to ride away from the grid for a few days at a time. We don't want e-assist all the time. We want something light enough that it can be dead weight most of the time and only used for difficult climbs, extended headwinds, or escaping weather. We aren't looking for e-assist for higher top speeds, just want to have assist sometimes when its difficult to maintain our speed. Every other e solution I've seen so far has so much weight and internal drag that the motors need to be on low almost all the time just to compensate for their existence. For MTB riding I wouldn't consider anything other than torque sensing assist. However, for loaded touring on gravel, dirt, and pavement a throttle is preferred for the greater simplicity and less weight. I HOPE THE CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT IS TOWARDS THE UNSERVED SEGMENT OF THE MARKET instead of trying to compete with the eBikes that are wannabe motorcycles.

I cant see this going very far at the price it is, I payed £350 for same power, More torque and, It dont sound like drone, I like the sound but not when it sounds like its struggling, Im not saying its not a good idea, But would be better off putting the running gear on the actual wheel and not the brake disc, With the cyc stealth just come out, I feel that will steal the lime light for a bit, When people see the price for what it is they will just go with the cyc or bafang weight added or not, With a motor with 160nm why worry about weight, lol.... Good idea but against a mid drive, No chance im soz too say....

Torque sensing will be strain gauges in the cranks or pedals. That’s Mickey Mouse. Build it into the motor itself.
@janed.killer64362 ай бұрын
how would that work?
@nick_john2 ай бұрын
@@janed.killer6436 umm.. it probably won’t, actually. I didn’t think it through before I posted it. Mid-mount drives bury the torque sensor inside somewhere. With this design, a power meter type sensor might be the only way. Thank you for that!
