Nice travel. 2nd class travel to Madras in Winter is OK. In summer this would have been a frying pan! All along the coast with 65% humidity at 38 C!! The Penna River passing through Nellore is called Vada-Penn-aar - in Tamil. There is another Then-Penn-aar south of Chengalpat. An interesting trivia--the Vadapennaar's name in classical Telugu is "Pinakini". That is how this train was named. Used to be a much faster train 30 years back. Stops got added periodically reducing it to just another "maamool" express. Due to the heavy traffic, there is a project of triple-lining the BZA--GDR section. Not yet completed yet. It has been going on for a few years now. They did not think the 3rd line was needed between GDR and MAS. There are supposed to be 4 lines between Korukkupet and Athipattu stations. Did you see them? Though Aarambaakkam is a station in TN, the train then goes into AP again :-) and then comes back into TN at Elavur. So, the name board of Elavur is written in Tamil & Telugu.

Enjoyed this ICF -oru second class yathra. Actually this train is a sprinter which has lot of stops and running in about 7 hours. Lot of inter-state passengers can commute in a cheaper way in this day express comparing to ST buses.

Great to see the unexplored section Gudur-Chennai. In fact my father worked in Ennore Thermal Power station years back. He would take the EMU from Moore market Complex to Ennore and back. Glad to see this line today.

At 56:09, that is not the line from obulavaripalle to krishnapatnam. That is the third line of Gudur-vijayawada. They had to move it to the other side due to alignment in gudur station. Obulavaripalle krishnapatnam line crosses the main line near venkatachalam station. That is also a rail-over-rail bridge.

This train was introduced after State bifurcation to give dedicated access for Nellore region ppl to Capital city.. 50:01 Also, jfyi Pinakini refers to Penna river which passes through Nellore City 56:50 This is third line starting from GDR part of GDR-BZA section not related to Krishnapatnam line.. It starts from GDR from your side and moves to other side by this ROR to avoid congestion on Main lines

The coaches are kept pending completion of enquiry process. Once the process is completed, the coaches are scrapped. IR does not re-use coaches damaged in accidents.

ICF has much lesser flat wheels due to the change in their braking system. LHB coaches have disc brakes - flat wheels are a result of uneven braking due to malfuntioning brake Equalizer.

even though still a priority train, the run has degraded to some extent. i travelled in 2002 twice, where it reached chennai at 12:45 pm -quite puntual train then.

So much garbage along the tracks from Vijayawada to Tenali at least and then again near Chennai. This garbage along the tracks across India makes me demotivated to watch some of the amazing train videos.

The Pinakini Express (12711 and 12712) has a total journey time of 6 hours and 55 minutes to 7 hours and 5 minutes, depending on the direction of travel. The train covers a distance of 431 kilometers. the other day, Coromandel took just 4 1/2 hours (in one youtube pgm), hence this shit train Pinakini should be re-designated as ordinary express like Krishna Express, and charge accordingly.
