I'm a programmer and I was working on a small wallet app for a private blockchain network (it was fair to the users and wasn't some rugpull: we tried to use it to reduce banking costs for a service company), but I know the very basics on how it works (my tasks were on the front-end side). After hearing about all these hacks I have a feeling "Yeah... Since there is no customer protection, you probably shouldn't participate in any of that"...

I work as auditor in Web3, almost all (even "legit") projects have centralized issue, meaning they can rug pull you if they want to. And what I hear about bug bounty space, many projects do not really take "market manipulation" type of bugs seriously, as they put out the disclaimer that the customers should know their risk. So, they do not pay the bug bounty and don't even bother fix it sometimes, cause it is "known issue". I don't think the users really "know" that, tho... Many projects who refuse to pay bug bounty end up with being hacked, no surprise.

15:10 - also, literally billions of people use credit cards. A tiny fraction use DeFi for those losses. If you looked a the losses on per user basis DeFi would look ridiculous. I own 200k worth of crypto and wont touch DeFi. The bridge hacks are rampant!
