I think the Irwins did an amazing job of raising a couple of very durable and resilient kids. Have you ever seen the clip where young Robert is bringing a boa out for the crowd to see and it's squeezing him so much his eyes are starting to bluge? A reporter asks Terri if she should do something and she says, "Can you still breathe honey? Yes? He's OK!". They don't need anyone's protection, because they are something at a very young age that few grown adults are: competent.
