The fate of the 'Queen Bee' might seem quite horrific, but it's worse for worker bees. Part of the reason that the Queen needs to be such a prolific breeder is because she repopulates the hive every year. All the worker bees are killed off prior to Winter, so they won't be a drain on resources. They are killed by having their wings ripped off and then being chucked out of the hive. They starve to death. (It is basically how corporations like to work, except the people at the top aren't producing anything at all. Unfortunately, they don't seem to understand this.)

the lack of honey uses needed to be addressed. Here's one that's not tea or toast. Dip still sizzling fried chicken into boiling honey, then dust it with salt, and it's one of the most delicious savory/sweet combinations out there, and if you do it hot like that and let the excess drip off, you get a perfect light glaze and the chicken stays crisp. Douse that in some franks and you're looking good. (be careful, use a fork or better yet tongs, and let it cool for a moment)
