UPDATE: Water Curtailment Order Lifted Groundwater irrigators and surface water irrigators have completed a deal that saves 330,000 acres of Idaho farmland from being dried up and averts economic catastrophe in the state. A mitigation agreement for 2024, brokered by Governor Brad Little and Lt. Governor Scott Bedke, has now been signed by all parties and has been submitted to the Idaho Department of Water Resources (IDWR for approval. When the deal is approved, IDWR will lift the curtailment for all nine ground water districts whose patrons irrigate with groundwater from the ESPA. “This is a huge relief to our members, who have had their livelihoods threatened over the past month,” said TJ Budge, attorney for Idaho Ground Water Appropriators. “We want to thank Governor Little, Lt. Governor Bedke, Senator Van Burtenshaw and, especially, all of our groundwater district members for their sincere and significant efforts to get a deal done before it was too late.” Reference: Idaho Press, June 19, 2024

Family moves to a high desert and keep taking more water than can be replaced from water that falls from the sky. Now the chickens are coming home to roost and you need to take cuts, or you will not have any water at all. This area of the US should not have crops that are water thristy. Plant other crops that do not need so much water to grow.

Sounds like those families didn’t just move there . Some farms are 5 and 6 generation farms, some don’t just grow corn , green beans and potatoes they also have cattle , I know this because I have seen this myself. I don’t own any farms . American citizens must continue to help our fellow Americans citizens when we see them in need . All of these things that have been put on or allowed to happen to the legal American citizens is simply done in my opinion against this Beautiful Country we have blessed with and our Veterans .
