Just made them. Of course I subbed the baked sugar in the mix for brown sugar and the Demerara sugar for Mexican sugar (morena, cane sugar that has not been refined, inexpensive and easy to find), also made it in a 9 in cake pan. Absolutely scrumptious! I didn’t know browned butter would make such a difference.

'Cause it first starts off as a different soup, which is then ruined with tap water and a myriad of other unidentified ingredients, then remade into something that's entirely different. It’s added to tea and used as a crunchy topping on an assortment of british desserts (bread and butter pudding, crumbles, mince pies), which is why I usually have a small bag of it in my cupboard 😅
