Why we do control test in Biuret test A control test is typically included in the Biuret test to ensure that the color change observed in the experimental samples is due to the presence of proteins and not the result of a contaminant or other interfering substance in the sample or reagents. The control test involves running the Biuret reagent alone, without adding any sample, and observing whether the reagent changes color or not. If the control test produces a positive result (i.e., the reagent turns violet), it indicates that there is contamination in the reagent or a problem with the procedure, and the results of the experimental samples may be unreliable. In contrast, if the control test produces a negative result (i.e., the reagent remains blue), it suggests that the reagent and procedure are working correctly, and any color change observed in the experimental samples is likely due to the presence of proteins. Overall, including a control test in the Biuret test helps to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the results obtained and is an essential step in any biochemical assay.
