It is a little bit of investment but up here at our campgrounds all the firepits are so abused that you can use them at all. This unit can sit right on the picnic table and have little smoke. Going to be fun this summer.

I agree. Took me a while to decide on spending the money, but after going to the campgrounds around here the firepits are so beat up this should be a big help.

I got one, you don't get a whole lot of time with the fire before you have to shut it down and clean it, as air travel gets blocked with ash, etc. After all, it's only a simple rocket stove, with a fan and heat disperser added on the output end. I got an ideal for that, being a Certified Journeyman Millwright, but I'll try it on my Pellet Stove First... :)
@naturecallsoutdoors4 жыл бұрын
You are right on the ash build-up. Will love to know how you remedy that. I do end up with plenty of time for cooking, but the build up does make it harder to regulate.

You never mentioned how to clean this vessel. How do you keep all the charred and greased debris from messing up the thermocouple? How easy is it to access that thermocouple which often need to be replaced (Carry a spare one in your pouch container). Many places in mountains cell phones and laptops will not operate, but you could charge up batteries for flashlights and that little USB light too - which has to be watched or it will melt by fire heat. The non smoke method is really great feature while a person cooks.

I am not sure I would use it enough to have a repair needed. I use it about once a month and if anything does go down the chute is seems to be pretty well vaporized and the TC is always clean. Looking at their distribution throughout Kenya and India, I think they are pretty confident on the durability. Yes I can see all kinds of applications and love to watch the Biolite videos. They have a new one about Kenya that is really neat. The light by the way could melt for sure. I usually have it cocked to the side and if I am concerned I just bend it away. It is a great light too. Is this stove still working? I am curious why they do not offer it for sale anymore? I looked at it about the same time you got this and I tabled it. I was looking at black friday sales this morning and noticed, it is no longer on the website for sale. Not even a backorder deal, I mean, it is completely gone, like they do not plan to offer it for sale again, and or they may have a new upgraded version that they just haven't released yet. Not sure. I do have their solar home lighting system at our little off grid cabin. I purchased it about the same time you got this. It is still working well. No fire with it, but a great little off grid cabin lighting system. Thanks for taking the time to share this video with us and I hope you have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving weekend my friend. Dale

Other ides, use high heat carbon felt and copper pipes. Copper pipe having tiny holes drilled along one side. Then either roll up felt and place in the copper pipe or punch out circles out of the felt and stack has many of the punch outs has you can into the copper pipe. Then sweat on the end caps onto the copper pipes. Use thick wire and bend a stand to hold the copper pipes and keep the side of the pipes with drill holes facing upwards. Then fill with alcohol or liquid heat. You now have burners has an alternative way to use your stove. 😊😉

We really like your videos. Very informative. My wife ask me a question about which BioLite product charges quickest, or produces the most electricity? Is it the Camp Stove 2, BioLite BaseCamp, or BioLite FirePit? Many thanks, Harold
@naturecallsoutdoors3 жыл бұрын
The Firepit+ has a 12800mah and it has no thermo charging, the camp stove 2 has 3200mah, basecamp is 2200. So of the 2 thermochrargers the basecamp will come to charge the fastest. The firepit will take all night at home basically. If you are asking which will charge a phone or something the fastest? if they all have a full charge they would be about the same, if you are talking thermocharging a phone, campstove or basecamp will be about the same as charging your phone off your laptop either one, if that helps. I she is looking for a way to do a fast charge of her phone from something, look into PD battery banks. I just picked up the new Nitecore battery bank that is lightweight, 5.5oz for 10000 mah with PD capability and fast recharge.

Thanks. It goes for a while. It goes and burns everything up so when the fan does stop there is little left. So I guess it depends on any heat that is hitting the sensor and that will vary. It never bothers me. i am usually doing something else.

Here are some ideas for you. Get. 12v induction heater. Use a graphite rod inside a thin titainum cylinder. The graphite will glow red hot that will cause the thin titainum cylinder to glow white hot that you can then use inside your stove. Upgrade thermal electric generator or even buy two stoves and remove the thermal electric generator from the other stove and use the other stove for parts. Thermal electrical generators power the heating element. Then you could use the stove in a tent or shelter from no toxic fumes being generated and you could place a wood stove fan on.it to circulate heated air in a tent or shelter. 😊😉

How about this idea, titanium absorbs heat quickly and releases heat quickly. Get.a G stove and all it's accessories. Then design titanium resivor's that are filled with Gallium Aluminum Scandium alloy. This alloy absorb's heat and conduct's heat. Design these resivor's to hang with metal hooks from each fold down handle on the G stove that will fit along the curved surface of the G stove directly to absorb all the heat being generated by the G stove. Then design thermal electric generator's that have two probes that fit into openings in the titanium resivor to generate electricity with each one having fan's to blow heated air away from the G stove. Okay now you have a thermal electric generator on both sides of the G stove generating electrical power and blowing hot air from built in fans. Design an induction heater with it's electronics insulated that will attach to each thermal electric generator. Add another thermal electric generator to third part that attaches to the other two thermal electric generator's with the 12 volt induction heater adding in wireless charging technology. Here where it gets wild, Now design titanium cylinders each having a Nintinol thermal electric generator with a induction coil with a graphite rod suspended in the middle of each coil inside each titanium cylinder. Main idea, start up G stove with wood or charcoal or an alcohol burner to get the thermal electric generator's going. Then ounce the thermal generation is up and running? The two or three titanium cylinders with the induction coil's power up by the wireless charging technology. Each titanium cylinder having a coil that will not become damaged by the high heat being generated by the induction heating of the graphite rod. The stove will then be self sustaining in a loop. The stove can then be moved indoor's or within a tent or shelter to heat with boil water and cook food. A wireless charging device with nintinol thermal electric generator's can then be placed on top of the G stove like a wood stove fan to charge up electronic devices. Well let me know what you think of this idea? I have some stirling hot gas engine and cold gas engine concept's i would like to run by you to get your input if your interested? Here is one concept. Helium stirling cryogenic piston 12v turns gases in the air to super cold Liquid. Liquid air fills an insulated tank with a bell siphon. Siphon runs down insulated copper pipe that fill's a modified absorption refrigeration unit. Liquid air flow's down insulated pipe that fill's a large fin aluminum radiator that has a fantastic fan drawing air through the radiator for air conditioning. 12 volt cryogenic piston turns off after first tank of liquid air has been generated. System operates a refrigerator and air conditioning fantastic fan 12 volts for refrigeration for air conditioning and the 12 volt fantastic fan. Liquid air boil off from heat exchange flow's out an exuast pipe back into regular atmosphere. I did not include the stirling V-20 cold gas engine that can operate two electrical power generator's all off liquid air. Well give me your input and if you would like to read the other concept's? I will break them down for you. 😊😉

Amazing. I appreciate smart people like you. Now to find the parts.

A 12 volt cryogenic stirling piston that can turn the gases in the air into a super cold Liquid. The electric motor on the cryogenic piston only would come on to produce a tank of liquid air then shut off. Then restart when the system needed to be recharged from a sensor in the cold gas engine's resivor. Liquid fills an insulated tank with a bell siphon. Siphon fills insulated copper pipe connected to a modified absorption refrigerator that charges it. Liquid air flows down insulated pipe and fills a large fin aluminum radiator with a fantastic fan drawing air through it for air conditioning. Okaynow for the really cool part, A V-6 or V-20 cold gas sterling engine made from aluminum scandium alloy with Gadolinium on all moving part's for magnetic cushions by how Gadolinium becomes magnetic at cold temperatures so no need for lube on engine part's. Two fly wheels with an automatic transmission connected two each fly wheel. Them get two medium sized drum motor's and rewire them into a electrical generator configuration and switch out old bearings for magnetic bearings and attach them to the automatic transmissions. Liquid air fills insulated resivor with the stirling cold gas piston head's of each cylinder. Wait a few give the engine a turn and ounce it gets going tge automatic tra will allow the engine to get up to speed has it brings the electrical power generators the drum motor's get up to a full spin. The liquid air heat exchange boil off leaves out an exuast pipe has atmosphere. If the stirling engine and drum motor generators are not quiet enough use foamed aluminum panels and make a box for it to muffle the sound of it's operation. 😊😉

This is really amazing. I must be getting old cause this is the kind of thinking I used to do. Thank you so much. I will need to read it a bunch of times to fully understand.

Разъёма USB не надолго хватит, расшатается, не будет контакта внутри, не будет зарядки для всех устройств. В итоге станет бесполезным

A great shame you feel the need to put irriatating music behind the naration, like waaay too many youtubers do. at least its at a level that I can hear what you're saying, it just makes it literally a pain to listen.
