Note :- 1. In gene therapy defective gene is replaced by functional gene . We can say it's a method of correcting defective gene which are responsible for disease development. 2. somatic gene therapy in this functional gene are introduced into cells other than germ cells . Patient requires periodic infusion of thse cells as thse are not immortal . And Introduction of such functional gene at early stage can be a permanent cure. 3. Germline gene therapy inthis functional gene are introduced in germ cells .this is inheritable. 4. Adenosine deaminase is the disorder caused by deletion of gene for enzyme Ada . This causes SCID disease and also affects immune system. 5. Treatement for this disorder is Growing of WBC in culture outside the body .with help of viruses ( such as retroviral vector ) functional Ada gene are introduced in these WBC which after are given to patients.
