I have found very little information on these types of biological worm or wire like creatures. Personally I found them by accident and at first I thought maybe they were dust particles or metal native wires. Under a microscope at 40x magnification I tinkered with electricity and magnets and just playing around learning. I then I realized they were actually extracting elements or I am not sure. However one the was for sure I could actually see the extraction process and was amazed. So much to still study and I have seen different sizes as far lengths and colors. Copper like, translucent, white, blue, red, fluorescent green. Im such a noob and I appreciate the information to think about as I continue to play around. I feel like they some how know they are being watched. I think also inker with these you should definitely wear PPE, long sleeves, gloves, mask. I am armature and this is not my job. I really believe this type of life can provide us with what we need for metal instead of yucky chems. You are great keep up your awesome videos please. Smoke is coming out of my ears.🤔

@6:50 This is something ive never seen. Thats totally crazy what the bacteria can do with Magnetite. @11:35 there are what we call the White cliffs of conoy here In Lancaster county, PA that look very similar to this image right along the Susquehanna River. There is a rail trail right next to them for hiking or biking if ever in the area its easy to find and get to.

I just did a presentation on biomineralization today. Love this topic

That's so cool, I love this topic too! Where do you present?

Whoa this is such a cool channel. How are you not more well-known in the science space here?? Literally all your videos sound so cool. Wish I could watch them all in one night. You’re def on the fast track to a tenured professorship! (If that’s the path you want to pursue)

Wow! This comment made me so happy, thank you so much! And yes, that is the path I would like to pursue, how could you tell? 😉

@@GEOGIRL Seriously! It’s presented in such a clear way. And yes, wear your nerdy science apparel with pride-I have a shirt with Charles Darwin’s first drawing of a phylogeny on it (big evo bio nerd) and I wear it with pride. Societal norms be damned!

@@bobbymath2813 OMG! I love that drawing by Darwin! Is it the one that says "I think" next to it? lol gotta love Darwin!

@@GEOGIRL That’s the one!! Holy crap I can’t believe you pinpointed it out from scratch like that. If you see me on the streets, please stop me - I haven’t gotten ONE compliment on it yet 😒 I’m trying to find a geologic time one from Hadean to Holocene but haven’t found one yet, oh well

@@bobbymath2813 HAHA it's because I was ordering a nerdy shirt one time and I was stuck in between one with Darwin's sketch on it and one that says "geology rocks". Unfortunately, I thought that nobody would appreciate the Darwin one, so I got the geo one haha. But I 100% agree there is not nearly enough sciency/nerdy apparel out there! So sad, hopefully we will find all the nerdy shirts we need someday lol

Thank you for the information! This series is a very useful introduction to biomineralization. I was wondering if we know of any genes / enzymes involved in these mineral formation pathways. I plan to do my PhD in a biomineralization lab, but come from a genetic engineering background, so I am interested in the metabolic pathways controlling this mechanism. Maybe I should do some more research, but thank you again for the useful information!

Nice explanation❤ . Could you Plz make a video on effect of pressure on melting behavior igneous petrology
@GEOGIRL3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yea, actually the ig pet video that came out on Sunday discusses how pressure affects melts, which if you haven't seen it yet, it may help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpyZZqydirZ7qs0 (but in those cases the melting has already occurred). The one that will probably be more helpful in terms of discussing the affect of pressure on mantle melting is the Basalts & Mantle video I have coming out on December 5th. If you need the information before then I can upload it early and just send you a link so you can see it (I already have it made), so let me know you'd like that :)
