Wtf man it is a total different apporach, they are not comprable. This guys are focusing on realistic micro expresions, get as close as posible to human like movements rather than a practical approach as boston dinamics. Boston robots are waaayy far from looking human, because they are not focusing on that obviously. This guys are making androids not robots. And yes walking is the hardest part but one step st the time boston dinamics only wants to get done what a human would be capable to peform or even better to sale it for that sole porupose to industries. They do not need to look human for that.

The new next level advanced version beyond Sophia will be Project RiA by Machani Robotics. It's only been 6 year's since the Sophia was introduced, so progress really is happening , just in small increments . . Beyond Imagination signed a record breaking sales contract for 1000 multipurpose Beomni robot's ,with an option for an additional 10,000 MORE within 5 year's. Beomni was presented with nursing, business and home assistance programs , but this batch of Beomni will operate and maintain interactive agricultural growth enclosures.

If I ever get a robot companion, I won't want one that looks like a human. I would rather have a droid that looks like a droid, otherwise I might start thinking of it as a person, rather than an appliance and end up giving it human characteristics that it just doesn't have. I think that we are DECADES away from humanoid robots, but an AR companion with the computational power coming from larger integrated programmes held on the cloud, could be in place by the end of this decade and since it only exists in the virtual realm (in the Metaverse or moving from screen to screen within a smart home/office) there is no need to resolve the hardware issues. We are not far from that, even now.

Impact Maximization via Hebbian Learning is an approach for AGI and ASI. The approach posits 3 main points 1) Making an impact is the objective function of all life forms n so the objective function of AGI is to maximise impact. Living thing have more impact potential than non-living things and highly intelligent beings haveeven more potential for impact. ANything we do is a kind of impact whether is self-preservation, procreation, meme propogation, DDAO and other derived objectives, and so maximising impact is what an AGI system should do. 2)Impact maximization can happen this way - If an agent relaxes(suspends output action) while perceiving something impactful and action when it perceives a lack of impact/novelity/interesting thing, so as to bring about a change in the environment, it will be more efficient in maximising impact compared to a dumb agent acting randomly. Also,Impact is a very subjective concept: what is impact for one may not be for someone else, what is impactful today for you may not be so tomorrow. hence we cant have a solid mathematical framework for impact based on a measure of activity or entropy or anything else. hebbian rule automatically results in impact maximising behaviour as, when presented with the same input again and again (usually associated with a lack of activity or impact) the same pathways get excited leading to quicker flow of activation to the o/p region whereas hen something new is perceived, activation travels through a newer pathway and hence takes longer to go to output therefore temporarily suspending o/p action. So conversely, its is not an impactful input that makes the system relax, but what makes the system relax is what is considered impactful for the system at that moment and vice versa. 3) emergence of various modules and useful and complex intelligent information processing and behavior, in a large neural network using just a variation of the hebbian rule for synaptic weight updation in addition with formulas/rules for learning rate, threshold, activation loss, neurogenesis and death updation. People talk about evolution and forming of regions taking millions of years and so we would need the same tim3efrme for this pproach, but thats wrong on 2 accounts. a) we can start with 30 billion neurons and 150 trillion synapses on day 1 ( which didnt happen in nature) and on day 1 its an impact maximising system with just hebbian rule. b) the formation of different region via evolution is not an accidental change that got permanent, the regions were shaped by biological rules such as hebbian and other homeostatic factors. So no random/accident component here thats required to form the different regions in the brain, just based on what its exposed to, the brain region can form so many different associations, representations, and other desired qualities such as remembering, abstraction, etc as demonstrated here. The approach involves building prototypes and incrementally adding input and output devices while increasing the size of the neural network to get to high levels of intelligence with the same underlying framework and learning rules. superintelligencetoken.wordpress.com/2021/11/13/our-approach/

This is nice, but it is nothing new. Today's better computer tech and manufacturing techniques makes building them easier. They've had it in the US for many decades now- Audio Animatronic character entertainmet robots. mostly used in theme parks like Disney's, or other tourist attractions, or for creature effects in movies. These are not true automatic robots. They are complicated electronic puppets either puppeteered live via remote control by a human operator, or moving according to prerecorded programs and synched up to a soundtrack. Notice how they do not walk about, and are affixed to a stand or chair much like a mannequin , and they do repeated cycles of scripted actions. The interactive ones can copy movements of the viewer, or if you talk to them, their responses are scripted. For example, David Hanson of Hanson Robotics and Sophia Robot fame is a former Disney employee who specializes in animatronic characters. The main difference between EX Robots and attractions like Disney World or Universal Studios is that they also sell custom animatronic creations as well as exhibiting them in their museum attraction, which may well be a more profitable business model than just relying on the revenue from hotel guests and park visitors.

I like this episode, more like this, to the question when will robots catch on there are 2 answers if you look at why the video tape system caught on in the 80's was VHS and not Sony Beta, although the Betas have better quality was the answer back then VHS prevailed because VHS was used very quickly by the porn industry in Europe in very large numbers and because VHS was cheaper than beta as a result. Beta was only used in TV and in the medical field ... I think it's the same with robots, the company that first builds a cheap and fully articulated sex/entertainment robot will prevail and conquer living rooms around the world
