Franchises like this are always a rare treat. When a story is created for the purpose of selling toys, only to then surpass the toys it's trying to sell and gain a dedicated adult following that endures years after it ends. BIONICLE may be gone, but the Biological Chronicle will always remain.

@snuppssynthchannel6 жыл бұрын
Actually for being a toy franchise its great. The art direction and set designs are quite iconic, With its original aproach on biomechanical design, almost like a H.R giger painting mixed With star Wars and Cultural traits from various Ocianian Island Cultures. Its timeline is complex and are constently being shaped by massive cataclysmic events, cataclysmic is the keyword that defines bionicle. All combined With a ritch mythos perhaps even a bit H.P lovecraft inspired. There are also many interesting and somewhat complex caracters, altough its main villain is quite bland and conventional.

After these events, the remaining life and the Toa agree to unite and honor the legacy of Mata Nui's efforts to provide a new home for the future of their kind. "His destiny is fulfilled, and for many of us, it has yet to be written." This states the past and the future defined by everyone's triumphant efforts and cerainly NOT a loss or a failure. Here's the short version. Ancient being built robots to reflect on the universe and life's purpose. After many failures, they made the perfect robot capable of accomplishing this task named Mata Nui. His Cells that worked to maintain him from within were divided into 3 categories. The Matoran (workers), The Toa (Defenders), and Makuta (parasites). Mata Nui was so busy pursuing his programming that he didn't notice he was getting very sick/the Makuta were winning. One makuta named Teridax manages to get him so sick that he passes out and crashes on one of the 3 worlds he was supposed to lego brick together composed entirely of water. His body parts are the islands and Teridax continues to tinker with Rahi, Bohrok, Rahkshi, and other Makuta in order to buy time so he can take over Mata Nui's brain while he's still comatose. The good news is that his immune system didn't forget its job and continued fighting off these infections until they found his head. Once they found his head they started looking for his brain/soul. That's the Mask of Life. Once they found it, the Makuta went full force to keep them from putting the body back together now that they had his brain. They succeeded, but only temporarily. Mata Nui was put back together and woke up, but the big parasite Teridax managed to fling the Mask of Life out of Mata Nui's brain and replaces him. Now a parasite is running his body and the toa spend the next who knows how long fighting for their lives. Meanwhile, Mata Nui's brain/soul makes itself a mini body and finds one of the old failure bodies of past robots that were supposed to be like him. He puts one back together and gets back to his old body. Fulfilling his original purpose, he uses its power to bring the 3 planets of forest, water, and earth together. However, moving planets takes a while and Teridax isn't happy that Mata Nui is back. He tries to squish him but one of the planets that Mata Nui brought hurling into the earth they were standing on squishes him instead. Both bodies are destroyed, but their cells survived on this new world. Now that the world is the way it is supposed to be, everything Mata Nui was programmed to live for is now their opportunity to pursue. Unity of the Worlds, Duty to accomplish this task, and Destiny to see it done. Mata Nui disappears but the two last surviving defenders, Tahu and Taka, lead the Matoran and anyone else who wants to join in to rebuild their new world so they can enjoy it rather than spend the rest of eternity fending off Teridax and his massive ego.

+T.F. F (The Flying Fedora) It's not so much the idea that I disliked when i first saw them in stores, it was the over-simplification of the pieces, there is almost no creativity and they come with so little! I enjoyed all the little parts that allowed the creativity to build what you wanted with the original Bionicles but all the new pieces just look bland and lacking in detail....It's sad to me. Hero factory parts are smooth and maybe....supposed to look futuristic? Bionicle was never about the future, if anything it's a story where robots have existed long before we did....why the hell would they look like this? I don't have a problem with new looks and new parts, but making them over simplified and "easier" to put together is ridiculous. These toys who are indeed designed for children, seem to be targeting a stupider breed of child than I was growing up. I never had a problem building them or understanding how the parts worked, and it's obvious that many others feel the same. Why the change? Why are these products (both Hero Factory and the new Bionicle reboot) using these simplified components? They look awful!!!! They just don't look fun to build anymore.

I hated what the *"stars"* sub theme did to the story in Bionicle. I understand that it was either cheap sets or nothing, but the story just felt way too rushed and incoherent to compensate for them. Everything from when the Bohrok-Kai came 0:40 to 4:28 with the Phantoka Toas was my Bionicle childhood. Damn.. and the video keeps going to 20 minutes. I don't know why, but the first years of Bionicle was amazing, and it has never escaped my memory regarding all the great deal of details included in the games, legosets, lores and just years of fun playing with the Bionicles. This universe just kept on going, just wish it never ended for me.

I STILL DONT UNDERSTAND THE FULL LORE ITS BEEN 15 YEARS AND I STILL DONT GET IT
@Galimeer56 жыл бұрын
The original writer of the Bionicle lore was diagnosed with (benign) brain cancer at around the time he started working on the world building. But to prevent the tumor from growing, he had to take pills every day and one day, he had a thought. He imagined that inside the pills were tiny soldiers, guardians, who would fight hard and never give up until he could finally wake up and be healthy again. The writer is Mata Nui, the cancer is the Makuta, and medicine he took are the heroes that arrived on the beaches of the island of Mata Nui in mysterious canisters. That's all you need to know to truly understand Bionicle.

@AmazingDirtHunter9 жыл бұрын
Jordan Washko dude WTF. What dies durable mean in that sentence? Cause inika builds really loved snapping when you took them apart. And figures have gears, AND poseability, boohoo! Lego made a system thats meant for all action figures, and didn't make a WHOLE FUCKING NEW ONE! FOR A NEW LINE! THAT WOULD COST A FORTUNE. Lego made it clear the ccbs system is to stay, it isn't never was, and never will be, the "hero factory' system. Take off your nostalgia goggles, and grow up. The new sets are great.

I was close to saying that during the first portion, narrated parts over the commercials, they were only saying What was happening and not _why_ it was happening. They didn't explain that the Toa Metru were the Turaga of Mata Nui in their prime. They didn't explain why they needed the mask of life; who the Pirakha were and what they wanted. They didn't even explain who the Toa Ignika were and how they got their powers.
