Some other details I wanna point out, the Rashkshi legs serve Gresh well because they look like leaves with tears in them. Even the black grounds his color scheme with some nice contrast. As for Vastus, I used to hate the Hordika legs, but they do give him a slightly lankier, twistier snake feel, and even his broad flat feet feel like lily pads, or a cobra's hood, giving him this swamp-creature vibe.

I really wish they used Kalmah's shells in dark green for Vastus, they would have complemented nicely with the hole-texture present on his inverted Inika torso and feet (and Zaktan's legs too as you said), and made him a bit more organic-looking as well. And, yeah, the STARS always perplexed me with the huge amount of new molds used for half a year only. Having those stars shells on Glatorian and Agori sets would have been amazing.

I used to have almost all the sets of 2007 and hardly any of the 2009 ones. And in retrospect i regret not getting Kiina when i could because it's a pretty good build.

I recall Vastus being an immense shelfwarmer back in 2009 - two whole big produce bins worth of Vastuses just accumulating, desperate to be sold at a discount. It was no secret that his design left much to be desired.

The biggest problem of 2009 were the narrow socket designs. It's always a gamble getting the sets used. I would also say the head design was a problem as it's just one giant block of transparent plastic, should have been something like the G2 heads with a removable eyestalk (eyestalks compatible with Metru heads). I wish ccbs was introduced with the Glatorians as it's good for the more organic elements the planets denizens have, and older parts would be used as cybernetic augments. That way people wouldn't immediately get whiplash from the new build system, as it would be an addition to existing parts instead of a complete replacement.

Yeah I really with the eyes and head would have been separate pieces too!

@@skybirdmakesHas anyone designed a 3d model of the glatorian head in two parts? It would automatically improve all of the Bara-Magna sets in a really great way. The head design itself is cool but it suffers from all of the details getting overpowered by the transparency.

I feel like 2008 was better than 09 overall but 09 felt like it had more potential; leaning back to older bionicle with the bright colors and clear villains. Also, the vehicle sets are fantastic.

For me he always looked like minotaur form a far. I never had him so never seen those parts up close

09 is why the bad socket designs are so infuriating. A really great year completely ruined by a massive design flaw. I don't own any 09 figures since I'm so afraid of them breaking. I've even considered just bricklinking some older (and in the case of hands, newer) parts to switch out for when possible.

I highly recommend that!

Dude, you need to start showing the sets you are talking about instead of poiting to them blured on the background. Also, couldn't you build this version of Vastus you are talking about and show us?
@skybirdmakes6 ай бұрын
Not yet, a few of the pieces don't exist in the appropriate colors, but I have since thrown it together in Studio and will follow this up with that. That version of Vastus is now on the Discord server, and will be featured in an upcoming video

Would love to see you showing the sets and stuff in the videos more often just as I’m not super familiar with names and have to look up what you’re talking about haha

I'll try my best, both the Prototype skrall, and Izrakoth are builds I've featured in a previous video, and the Studio revamp of Vastus should be in a video coming today
